comedians can say all the shit they want to them and literally all their depictions in western media are caricatures, but literally no one wants to talk about it.

with all the shit thats been going on with COVID there have been incidents all over the world involving physical attacks towards them, but there are no protests or Asian lives matter going on.

Im not Asian btw so I probably have no right to be speaking for others but its just something Ive noticed.

Im also probably being politically correct by using terms like asians in this way, but idc Im talking about real shit that actually has detrimental effects.

if Im wrong about this feel free to call me out.

I havent done any research on this stuff tbh, its just something Ive noticed in media and irl.

there was also that thing about universities making it tougher for Asian students to enrol, which sparked this idea in my head.

Because black people deal with worse things so that means Asians can't be discriminated against or something. It's messed up man.

whats also crazy is that a lot of the racism Ive seen irl comes from huge anime and Japanese video games fans. The majority of it also seems to be directed against the males though the females definitely get it too.

this shit is a myth I reckon. Most of this comes from their culture emphasizing hard work beyond anything else. Ive heard there are studies that show that asians have a much harder time getting accepted in higher level positions.

Like I would tell anyone else who feels like they're in a group that gets mistreated, speak up. Black people speak up about issues that we've personally experienced and problems that the government has caused and not done a good of making for.

Latino and Asian communities face their own discriminations and prejudices that I can acknowledge but not truly understand. That's something you have to be responsible for.

There are so many ethnic groups and cultures in that group it's insane. My wife is from China and she doesn't even like people from southern China, much less people from Thailand or Malaysia.

I've lived in California for almost 40 years, and I'm Asian. I noticed since about age 12 or so. It's a big reason (albeit not the only reason) for why I'm escaping California by moving to Arizona. I love it there.

Trying to tred lightly here. It's that their issues are seen as less important than the struggles of the black community. It's similar to how black women had to create separate movements because despite fighting for feminism and black rights, their issues were often pushed back in favor of issues of black men and white women. I don't necessarily know if it's on purpose, but basically when the "average" American thinks racism, they think of relations between whites and blacks. It's an issue, but it won't really be addressed until Asian Americans force it to the forefront and refuse to let it be ignored.

what are you talking about, so many Japanese games feature a predominately western cast and they are treated like actual people not caricatures.

examples being - resident evil, metal gear solid and silent hill

this is also coming from a country that is more then 99% made up of Japanese people. When the Japanese devs feel like they cant realistically depict themselves in their own video games if they want to get sales from the west then there has to be something weird going on.

I'm wondering if a lot of racism against Asians is ignored because it's perpetrated by Blacks. Since it's another minority group, people feel awkward bringing it up and some people want to think that being Black means you can't be racist.

Another reason might be that the Asian population is less than other minority groups in America so that might be why it's overlooked.

Also, so many people here saying that racism against Asians is tolerated because Asians don't speak up, which is total bull. They have been speaking up, but they're just ignored. Because they're ignored, people act like they don't speak up.

I'm actually Asian myself and have been very fortunate not to experience blatant racism in my lifetime. I do live in a very diverse area on the East coast so it's kind of a bubble compared to the rest of the country. My sister was made fun of in middle school one time for having Asian features, but she hilariously thanked them super sarcastically. They didn't know how to respond and just walked away.
