Mine is doing the same exact thing, also making constant noise even rest mode.

Started around the same time the PS5 released.
nice coincidence Sony

Mine does that. I just spaz my finger across the eject button until it stops. It goes away for several months before happening again. It really hasn't been too disruptive

Mine was doing it for a while a little bit ago, it would eject discs while playing, turn on the PS4, etc. It seemed to help when I put a towel directly underneath the eject button. Eventually it stopped doing it.

Yeah I had to remove the rubber bumper underneath and it stopped but now it's a constant ejecting sound even without discs

Guess i have a while to determine if I'll need to buy Personal 5 Strikers/Scramble digitally at least

Its playing my re7 disc fine now. So maybe I shouldn't sit my ps4 slim on top of this one anymore.

Mine did that occasionally but I found that moving it forward a little so that the rubber bumper under the eject button wasn't on the shelf and was instead just in the air stopped it completely.

Thats smart actually! I have already removed the rubber bumper sadly and that worked for a while.

But what this sounds like is any pressure underneath causes it to eject so it was probably because (I just had a ps4 slim sitting on top of this classic ps4 and the weight triggered the sensor.)

Yeah, I bought my around launch and it did that a couple months after owning it. Moving it like Murp said fixes it most of the time.

Theres a way to fix it

basically you disassemble the whole thing and put electrical tape between the contact of the button onto the board itself

it was pretty easy to do, definitely solved the disc spitting issue forever and can still take and eject discs from the menu

cant use the button itself but who does that anyways?

mines is a first edition white PS4

Do you have an OG PS4? Mine did that.

Had to physically disable the eject button with a bit of tape because it would constantly boot the disc out and close the game. Now I just eject discs via software.

That is true! If it acts up again I'll have to consider that!

It's not particularly hard, I don't think you need anything aside from a properly sized philips screwdriver.

And btw, none of the other fixes worked for me, that's why I had to disable the button.

well its not the ENTIRE thing (my bad lol I made it sound a lot worse considering its pretty easy to put back together) just take out the screws one by one and set them aside when you reach another section of screws so you remember what screws belong where - take pictures, it was definitely worth it

I don't know, honestly.

I went to sleep watching a DVD on it one night, and when I woke up in the morning and tried to eject it, the disc drive was unresponsive. I had to manually eject it (via a screwdriver), and when I tried putting something else in, it wouldn't take the disc at all. I manually put it in (once again, via screwdriver) and it wouldn't recognize that disc, either, so...

Damn

Thats terrible I can't imagine what would have caused it. Unless it has to internally switch a mechanism when reading dvds and blu rays. But that would be weird.

I remember I had to use a screw driver on my ps2 disc drive after playing resident evil 4 too much and after that the disc tray would only stay open for a second. So I had to race to put discs in the tray
