Just beat it. 100%. Now I'm sad. Started that game on my birthday 2 months ago cause I knew I'd love it and took my sweet ass time. Enjoyed the hell outta it. I'm sure I'll go back at some point. Maybe even go for Hard Mode which seems crazy, but as is I never used a single item throughout the entire game anyway, so I'm sure it's doable.

It's David Wise's best work. So many top quality tracks in the game. And I'm a nostalgic fanboy for DKC and DKC2's soundtracks too.

Can we talk about how amazing the rocket barrel theme is in Returns, by the way? One of the best tracks to come out of modern Nintendo.

It's very much in a similar vein to Returns, just much larger levels from what I remember. I was disappointed that Returns had bonus rooms that were much more like DKC1 and IIRC that didn't really change for TF. I mean yeah there are secret levels in both, but I wish they would've gone more towards the DKC2 lost world approach of cumulative unlocks rather than having to find specific secrets

I grew up with and love the original trilogy, have plenty of nostalgia for them all, but this is the best game in the series, a real platforming masterpiece

TBH, unless you're a completionist, the puzzle pieces aren't that special. The KONG letters are what you really want, so you can unlock the bonus level in each world.

World 5 Juicy Jungle
World 6 DK Island
World 3 Bright Savannah
World 2 Autumn Heights
World 1 Lost Mangroves
World 4 Seabreeze Cove
World 7 Secret Seclusion

Tropical Freeze is the best 2D platformer there is. I used to prefer DKC2 for its darker tone and it still makes me feel nostalgic in ways that Tropical Freeze cant... but Ive come to appreciate Tropical Freezes mishmash of style more with each passing year.
