I think it's not cynical enough. The world has problems, and ignoring those problems and saying everything's rainbows and kittens just means those problems are going to persist instead of being solved to make the world a better place. Some problems are being solved, but if we don't pick up the pace, it might not amount to much in the long run, assuming there even is a long run.
