Because they're scams meant to sucker people out of their money or personal information.

Idk which ones you're using but most worth a salt should have filtering options like recent age of request, location, experience required, income bracket, or etc.

yes this is after the filtering.

and the number of times i put "Full Time" and it gives me a shit ton of part time jobs is annoying.

and yes i know they just aggregate data, but "PART TIME" is written as a bullet point at the top of the job description. it couldn't match that?!?!

I remember in the old days, Monster and Career Builder being terrible. Linkedin pretty much works they way I expect. Indeed is alright.

If I had to seriously start searching again, I'd probably stick with those last two.

There's literally nowhere in my area that's legitimately hiring. The only callback I've gotten was for an executive assistant position, and the guy who owned the company was a massive COVID denier and Trump cultist.

That's going to be the same of every job posted on any site. I guarantee that job will have more than 50 applicants, from all different posting sites.

These are not high quality candidates. There's an opening on my team and we got 100 applicants within 2 days. Only 2 of them got past HR into the interview process. A month later, we're still looking.

Just apply.

Use the sites as a directory and then just apply via the actual company websites you're interested in.

This. Doesn't matter what you know, just who you know. Right place, right time.

I got hired as a high school teacher because I was the only male teacher that interviewed. And I didn't even have a license at the time. They hired me over someone with a master's in education and 10 years experience because she was female, and they wanted a male English teacher.

can i ask how schools process all that? i have lots of experience making lessons and teaching them and stuff, mostly out of school time and at university as a lecturer, but i have no certification, yet every application says they need it. what did you say in your cover letter, etc.?

Bluh. I know that feel. Good luck, man. I always get "linguistics" or "linguist" or "language" results that are just using the form language at the bottom ("Nothing in the language of this ad is meant to imply any blah blah)."

The closest real result I've gotten for relevant jobs I'm qualified for within 175 miles is spellchecking personalized Christmas ornaments.

Honestly the average resume is terrible. If you're applying to jobs that aren't complete reaches, with a decent resume you should be getting interviews at the very least. I ended up paying for a resume writing service way back when, and it really did increase my response rate.

Overall structure and formatting firstly. My old one was pretty 90s.

For the actual content, I filled out some questionaires about what make actual work history was, with too much detail so they had a base to work with.

They also made me send over some job postings that I thought I fit, and basically we went bullet by bullet saying things like "it really looks like you did this in your previous job, but none of what you gave me tells that story specifically. Would it be fair to rephrase this bullet as xyz?"

And then we just iterated that for a few rounds until we were all happy.

Technically, I could have done all that on my own following guides on the internet, but having an expert who has done this already call me out on everything was of great value to me personally.

I believed I paid somewhere between 100-150. I don't think the company I used exists anymore, so I can't give a recommendation for a good service. From what I hear, some are basically scams so be wary.

In NC, you just have to be able to hold a license in the area you are trying to teach. And then, depending on how many credits you have, you do an Emergency Permit to Practice for a year, then an Emergency License, and then you enroll online and earn your official license, which is then referred to as your Residency License, until you have your official Educator's License.

But that's the lateral entry path and you have to be offered a job at a school first.
