it really should have started with a "Y", since we've only ever seen 2 other members of his species, and they also started with "Y".

this name is more...guttural and less...whimsical.

given what little we know of the species, i'm not sure how i feel about this one being a "dark seed". even Drow elves in Tolkien aren't inherently evil, and Yoda's species in SW is as close as you can get to elves from fantasy aside from someone like Simkin in Weiss and Hickman's Darksword Trilogy.

Someone spoiled the name for me now. It sounds like a Discovery-Klingon--not even one of the Klingons of previous Star Trek series--came into the Star Wars universe and named something haphazardly. Blegh

to be fair...Worf, Gawron, Martok, Kahless, etc...there was no real established naming convention in Klinzhai.

She had like 7 seasons of character development to get to where she is. Thats the difference. Plus, she didn't have anything to do with the establishment of the rebel alliance.

I still have to watch the show. I've been using my sister's account since it started. I just haven't really been in the mood... Idk why...

this. Ashoka was always a badass, and has two prior, entire series' worth of bonafides that are still considered canon, plus a lot of now apocryphal "legends" lore to cash her checks. she did way the hell more to earn those twin whitesabers than Rey did to claim the name "Skywalker". Rey gets plot armor in spades. Ashoka bled for every bit of her cred, and Rosario Dawson did a great job walking the fine line between Ashoka's Jedi Optimism, and battle-scarred, weary Jadedness with all she'd seen first-hand. of Anakin, Vader, and Luke.

And if there's any doubt as to Ashoka Tano being a real badass, when Rey is having her Force Hallucination in Ep9 where all the Jedi we've seen on screen are whispering to her, She's the only one that isn't a Force Ghost as far as we know aside from Grogu.

Ahsoka was a likeable padawan with a great character arc and learned from some of the best, and had to struggle a lot before she becomes legendary. Rey was instantly good at everything and none of her powers felt earned, she was clearly Kathleen Kennedy's power fantasy

Ahsoka is the only Jedi aside from Yoda who can sense Order 66 happening across the galaxy, one of those weird traits that "defined characters" get after they're on a mediocre show for ten years and kiddos literally forget how much she was despised.

Can't wait for her next appearance where she yoinks a star destroyer from the sky, given how much else she's copied from Starkiller at this point.

the "twins" we all wanted in current canon from the former legends canon became the asspull "force dyad" we got after "somehow, Palpatine has returned".

if anything, the only gripe i have with Tano in the latest episode of The Mandalorian, is that one of her Whitesabers gets knocked out of her hand into the koi pond where the Kill Bill duel is happening and she doesn't immediately backflip and force pull it back thru her opponent the way Snoke ate shit.

Ignoring the actual Starkiller person you're talking about, the Starkiller Base itself was...inconceivably stupid. if you can suck up an entire star from a neighboring star system and use that energy to direct a beam to the next system over...

1. you have the power to harvest and store the entire energy of an entire star. full stop.
2. why wouldn't you just stop in the actual system you wish to destroy and take their star, leaving their entire system a ring of rogue planets, tumbling through cold space in opposite directions?
3. why wouldn't your entire "new republic" use much smaller vessels with that tech dyson-style to power their entire civilization?

I like his real name. Before the reveal of his real name, I always preferred calling him "The Child". I didn't really like calling him "Baby Yoda" since he's not Yoda and the nickname can confuse some people.

This is actually a relevant point, my wife thought he was literally just Yoda as a baby. But she's not into Star Wars so it doesn't really matter if she knows what he is

Tbh I thought it could have been yoda as a baby for the fact that Disney was so insistent on calling him the child, it was like they were doing everything they could to not ruin the twist, but I also didn't watch the show so I didn't know when it was set

It's not like disney isn't above changing shit just to make things profitable, they could have said it was a yoda clone, or his people get reborn after 20 years of death or whatever
