I think of PEMDAS.

62(1+2)
= 62(3)
= 66
= 1

I derped it up, by getting caught up on parenthesis. Should've read it like:

62(1+2)
= 623
= 33
=9

First you solve whats in parenthesis:

6 2 x (1+2) = 6 2 x 3

There are no exponentials or roots, so you next do the multiplication and division in order from left to right:

6 2 x 3 = 3 x 3 = 9
