I still remember watching the premiere episode, it was pretty great for a time. Honestly couldn't say when I dropped it, maybe season 5ish with a bit of scattered viewing for a while afterward.

I lasted until around Rick and Negan were having terribly choreographed gunfights.

I had enough.

The cliffhanger annoyed me far more than the death.

First four seasons are great, quintessential zombie apocalypse material. But then it started to get pretty ridiculous and generic in season 5, in my opinion, and continued going downhill from there.

The last episode I watched, before calling it quits, was the Glenn dumpster episode. I didn't appreciate AMC insulting our intelligence like that, and treating us like a bunch of 5 year olds, and haven't kept up with the series since. Most of my friends also lost interest in season six, and a couple stopped a few episodes into season 7.

Thats about when I stopped to. But the real point that killed it for me was when Glenn fell into the huge crowd of zombies a few episodes before and somehow lived because they decided to reposition him and remove some zombies. Ultimately though it was a show I watched because it had potential to be so great but it just never was IMO. Even as early as season 2 they wasted a ton of time on Carols daughter and the farm in general.

Even the first four seasons kinda dipped between good and bad IMO. A lot of long stretches of padding with the odd great episode or two. It never really felt like a show that found itself in a good rhythm to me but there was enough glimpses of greatness for a while that got you to stick around.

Then eventually those glimpses of greatness were just changed to cheap cliffhangers, fake outs, pointless deaths and lame shock value that felt like social media bait. Eventually people realized this show wasn't really building up to anything.

The first three or four seasons were great, especially season 1 and 2. Then it fell off, now it's pretty decent again.

Season 1 to 3 were great. I believe 3 is the best. The first half of season 4 dips a little but it's still good. The second half of season 4 begins to suck except for the Rick, Michonne, and Carl episodes when they're on the road. Honestly, the entire show should have just focused on them after the prison They were the best part of the show imo.

Anyway season 5 takes a huge drop in quality. Season 6 picks up a little, but they do resort to a lot of fake out deaths. Season 7 is alright but still not as good as 4 and no where near the first 3 seasons. I haven't watched season 8 so no comment.

I personally felt it was good all the way through the end of season six. Nothing to do with the cliffhanger or whatever, I just dont think anything regarding Negan and the Saviors was all that interesting, although the buildup to them meeting him was. I watched through the end of season 8 and havent caught up since

I can't fathom how people are praising the early seasons as if season 2 wasn't god-awful. An entire season was spend on something you knew the outcome of 5 seconds after her disappearance. It was the most boring piece of television I've ever watched, the pacing was horrid. I dropped the show a few episodes into season 2 and caught up a few years later, skipping season 2 entirely.

I stopped watching somewhere after the first arc of alexandria. I lost interest. The gore was tone down and it took the soap opera route and just bored me.
