What I'm gathering is that the ones that were calling the shots are the most at fault for this, not necessarily the cops that actually did it though guess there could be some overlap

funny that certain people have to bring up the rental car thing from 2016 in an effort to "justify" what happened

Considering that they were at the house looking for the ex-boyfriend related to drugs, who was responsible for that "rental car thing from 2016", yes, it's relevant.

There is no good defense of this. They broke in the middle of the night in plain clothes. Most gun rights people should be arguing that the homeowners were justified it trying to protect themselves. If this were my house and a group of random people broke in not in uniform while I was sleeping I would be shooting at them too.

...

Those are problems, but not with the officers themselves. It was policy that allowed that - the officers were acting in the way they were permitted to do so. I don't believe the officers should be charged, but the killing of Taylor was not justified at all.

Rioting and shooting cops won't fix problems - go after law makers, government officials and demand changes. In the eyes of the law, there realistically are no guilty parties here. If the police were told that this sort of raid was disallowed - then that is a totally different story.

Kinda telling how easy it is for some people online to fall for the "black guy who shot first was a drug dealer" narrative when it's been proven that he wasn't and that he also wasn't charged with anything.

weren't there reports of some cops lying in order to obtain the warrant, and the judge is just a rubber-stamp kinda judge and didn't look very closely at what was presented?

I feel like there's a lot of things with this case. So if anyone read up on the case and what her boyfriend also said. They were in bed. Heard loud knocks on the door. They didn't just barge through. They knocked first. Boyfriend said as much. Now the issue is why do this at 3am. If they need to speak to taylor she was a first responder for covid stuff. Find her at her job. Anyway, the boyfriend thought the knocking was the ex who was involved with the drug stuff the cops wanted to find out.

The boyfriend was also carrying a legally owned gun. So when the cops came in finally since nobody answered the boyfriend shot at them. Which he's well in his right to do. He didn't know it was the cops. Cops shot back figuring the place they were going into might have had what they were looking for and getting shot at would make you think so. So they shot back and Taylor got it. It's just super unfortunate and shows how the police system needs fixing.

But in all I read. It's dark and in the middle of the night. Nobody targeted her because she was black. Like idk how this could be made a race thing. Most of the time it's a police incompetence thing. For the longest I've said the requirements to be a cop are too lax. They need to be better. Tested yearly. Etc. It's not an easy job at all but being in New York I see some fat as fuck out of shape cops.

So you can't possibly charge first degree. There was no intent to kill. I guess manslaughter is possible. But that's never going to happen considering they were shot at first albeit rightfully. There are other things they should be charged with but based off all the reports (not the false story that gets thrown around. Probably on purpose) I'm not sure how you can charge them with murder. And I know people don't want that answer and will probably call me a name or whatever for saying that. It makes me sick that people will think I'm defending cops when that's the last thing I'd do. But logically idk how you can expect a murder charge there.

Try this one TC...

The cops get a no knock warrant for some apartment.

They go to and bash open the door and go in to arrest the guy. The guy is a criminal and from bed draws on the cops. Manages to squeeze off a shot. The cops return fire and pencilize him.

Unfortunately he's sleeping with someone in bed with him. That lady is also hit with return fire and killed.

So it could be argued that the cops were being shot at so they absolutely had the right to return fire. Just unfortunate that this woman was there. They certainly were in no way looking to harm her. They just wanted to arrest the guy. Then he drew on them and they had to return fire.
It literally nullified stand your ground with how remarkably hypocritical the ruling was. Shut up.
