Some of the random horror ones are great as well. It's like an early version of The Twilight Zone

I listened to some episodes of The Lone Ranger radio show. I particularly liked the final showdown between he and the man who killed his brother, Butch Cavendish.

The series deliberately avoided recurring villains. But due to Butch's role in the Lone Ranger's origin story, he's become sort of a de-facto arch-rival. He was an exception in the radio show and was allowed to return for a second and final time for the Lone Ranger's 15th anniversary broadcast.

Not really. I didn't get that into Fallout 4 because it kept crashing and pissing me off

Jack Benny had some good stuff. I remember when it came on the radio in LA Noire and I'd just pull over and listen. :)

I used to listen to audiotape collections of those and Dick Tracy as a kid.

Orson Welles did some amazing stuff. I actually just went through the NPR Star Wars serial, BBC's first Hitchhiker's Guide series, and just started BBC's Lord of the Rings.

Ah, that's cool. I've only listened to the famous War Of The Worlds from him. Maybe 1 other. Never have checked out the Hichhiker's Guide, and never knew about Lord Of The Rings

There is a local theatre group that did radio drama productions around Halloween. Three actors and a foley artist in front of mics reading spooky tales (ghosts, aliens, zombies, etc) as if it were a radio station, complete with funny versions of local ads and stuff. Loved those.

While I never listened to the series proper, I listened to The Shadow episode The Laughing Corpse.

It's part of the inspiration behind the Joker. The villain in that episode uses a lethal form of laughing gas which leaves the corpses of the victims with a permanent smile. The plot device was reused for the Joker's first appearance in the 1940s and for the 1989 Batman movie.

he also used that serum many times in the animated series. except they removed the part where it kills. and it was just more of a inconvenience until batman gave them the cure

He did a great Treasure Island as part of Mercury Theater and a miniseries type Les Miserables that I recommend.

It has a dubious place in history. Some members of the NAACP defended it at the time on the grounds that, while the lead characters were stereotypes, the show did include black doctors and black lawyers who were largely absent from other media.
