I wanted to go from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (Charlotte, NC) to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (Houston, TX).

The flights are cheap because Corona virus right?

Ideally is it cheaper to fly round trip or two one way tickets?

Is it cheaper to stay for a few days or a whole week?
Ideally I would only like to stay for five days max.

What are the best websites for finding these deals?

Flights should be cheaper because of COVID, yes. Ideally, you should book at least three weeks in advance for the best rates; but for a route as major as CLT-IAH, timing shouldn't matter quite as much. Round trip is generally your best bet as well, though that isn't an ironclad rule.

Try not to have Friday or Sunday as your departure/arrival days, as they tend to be the most expensive days to fly. I recommend cross-examining fares between Google Flights, Skyscanner and Momondo. If you find yourself needing a rental car, you can save a lot of money via Hotwire or Priceline, but make sure the rental agency is a reputable chain - some airports have some fly-by-night rental companies that'll screw ya.

Yes and No. Some Airlines might have deals, while others may keep their usual rates. Research time.

Round trip will be cheaper most of the time indeed.

Is it cheaper to stay for a few days or a whole week?
I always do 5-day trips (My departure is usually on Wednesday morning and my return on Sunday night) and i can tell you by experience that it is indeed a good ammount of days to spend in 1 place. 1 week might be a too much if you are gonna stay at one city and 3-4 days always feel like you could have done something else, so 5 days is pretty much spot on.

By traveling on wednesday morning and returning on sunday night, you maximize your time so make sure to do that. Just be careful, as someone said, Sunday is a pretty busy day at the airport since plenty of people use it to return home so tickets will be obviously a bit more expensive and you might not have many seats left.

Since you are traveleving within the same country, make sure to buy your tickets at least 10 to 15 days before, that way you will get a pretty decent deal. If you can make it 3 weeks by any chance, you might even find it at a cheaper price, but a rule of thumbs is no less than 10 days before the flight date.
