Imagine any website that allows comments makes you sign up with a username. But, you have to put in your real name and do face verification with a form of government ID.

Would trolling and misinformation go away online? Its an interesting idea. The internet is a disgusting place filled with hate because of anonymity.

Think of the bathroom stall in a middle school. Those walls and doors are filled with some of the most awful graffiti simply because its anonymous and they know someone else will read it.

I dont like the idea of being forced to use a real name at all, as it creates real concerns for government tracking your online activity.

This is true. But there are also a LOT of accounts on Facebook made by Russian bots. Same with Twitter.
