The more I play the more I enjoy this. I haven't done this many sidequests in an open world game in so long.

lethal mode is neat and all but it's really exposing this game's weird spawn points. i die to a swarm and then it spawns me in the exact same spot i died in... with no enemies.

i have to actively loop around to about 40ft away and come back for the enemy group to reappear lol

Yeah the random groups don't respawn cause they're just fodder. Basically like a random encounter in an RPG.

Whenyou pick your horse the game tells you it will be with you for the rest of the game. Yeah nope. I didn't realize I had a connection with it until it started to get shot by arrows

So I'm in act 3 on the mission where you have to sneak back into the castle and everybody is talking about Jin's poison and suddenly everyone has it. But how does everyone and their mom suddenly know exactly how to make it?? Idk it just bugs me and idk if there's gonna be an explanation.

I don't think there's a specific point where they explain how, but considering Jin's housekeeper knew about it and the flowers are everywhere, I'm guessing it being poisonous and how to extract the poison is reasonably common knowledge. Though, you can heal from their version quite easily and it doesn't kill as fast as Jin's, so I'm guessing they don't know how to make it as potent as you do.

I assume up until that point the Mongols just weren't aware of it, but after Jin used it to poison them at the castle, Khotun saw how effective it was and copied the idea. Jin was imprisoned and then unconscious for a while too, so they had time to gather it up.

Yeah the game does a poor job of showing the passage of time. I was also confused about suddenpoison but I assume its probably been awhile.

I just beat it last night.

It's a wierd feeling, because I enjoyed playing it and think it was very good, but also I have no interest in ever playing it again and left absolutely no lasting impression on me whatsoever.

So, like...I dunno, I guess as long as I was liking it while playing it it's all good. Just was a real in the moment kind of thing.

I know what you mean. I was mostly driven by the gameplay to finish it, more than the story, to the point that every time I opened a new area, I would do all of the optional objectives before doing the story ones because they were more fun.

That said, Yuriko's sidequest will stick with me for a while and the ending was really strong.

Yeah, this was where the game really stood out.

You had the primary sidequests which were the best parts of the game, the basic sidequests which were the weakest, and the main thrust which had bombastic moments but there wasn't a ton of it, but I liked the gameplay for it all.

The game's biggest issue is definitely the combatless sidequests. Should have been half as many fox dens, maybe less (also one. Of them is broken for me and can't be done). Shrine climbing feels like it's straight out of 2010. Bamboo cutting...like I actually am really good at that kind of thing so they weren't difficult, but that isn't even like a little fun. Hot springs is whatever. Haikus are TERRIBLE.

Yeah, the fox dens sucked, but at least the foxes were cute. And I didn't mind the rest. Hot springs developed Jin a little and the bamboo cutting and shrines were fun enough.

I liked the haikus at first, but got bored of them quickly. But then I read an article on Kotaku from a real haiku poet who said that most of the haikus were terrible and I now have the headcannon that Jin is just an awful poet and had fun again trying to write the worst haikus ever.

Well I did it. Beat the game and got the Platinum. Only my fourth one ever lol. I really liked the game. I never did get over just how freaking beautiful it is, just gorgeous.

I spared. It was such a difficult decision! I originally considered granting him death and even pressed X on it but when it asked if I was sure I changed my mind lol. I don't regret my decision, though I wonder how it differs from killing him.

It makes sense. The entire last act was about how he's not a samurai anymore, he's the ghost. He has no reason to follow the code and kill his uncle when he thinks his uncle will do more good against the mongols alive than dead.

Kill seems like a super contradictory and dumb ending...but I could understand someone picking it to get the white ghost armor, lol.

NO FUCKING WAY. ZORO IS THE JAPANESE VOICE?! I can't believe it, I've been playing in English the whole time coz my gf and I are taking turns but we're switching IMMEDIATELY so I can hear Zoro.

Anyway, game is very flawed but I'm having a blast with it. I find the combat to be super rewarding the better I get at it. I went from REALLY struggling with 4-5 opponents to like absolutely slaughtering whole camps of 20+ with the different stances. I can see it getting old eventually but now I'm experimenting with the different ways to perform stealth kills.

Most of the sidequests have been really fulfilling and whoever said they hated Haikus... what? They're awesome!
