nevermind that its fucking expensive (like $100k aud for a specced up model 3)

But every 7 years the battery has to be replaced right

Thats not going to be cheap right

Ive got $80k in my bank today so i can nearly afford a tesla, but it seems so out of my means...

Warranty is for 8 years, no?

Yeah but would the warranty cover loss of battery life due to natural degredation
Like they arent going to give you a free battery at 8 years

Every 7 years? How many miles? How much are they? How long does it take to replace them?

If it falls below 70%, sure.

Year 8 its 71%
Year 9 its 65%
Excellent

Year 6 i want to go on a drive that requires 90% of the battery but its already degraded too far by that point

In general its a bad idea to use a battery thats degraded too far

If teslas engineers and scientists have solved this problem, excellent. What was the solution?

You should be worried, Tesla just came dead last in JD Power quality assessments.

Despite my worries im thinking the same, but 100 grand is a lot and the battery replacement is probably 20 grand. Australian that is.

Do you think they will lower the cost one day

Its unlikely that we're going to see a plateau in terms of battery longevity, nor a plateau in the cost to replace.

Its good to remember that electric vehicles are still essentially brand new. Getting a Tesla right now is pretty similar to buying PC parts. Itll be fun but its just as likely you'll see it rapidly get outdated.

Excellent

Pretty sure this depends on your specific usage. There are also additional charging stations every year.

That said, it should not be too long before they introduce batteries good for more than 1,500,000 km. Tesla and one Chinese company are nearing 2,000,000.

Check out battery day in September. They'll be showcasing the million mile batteries to pack in their Semi and a lot of other cool stuff. Teslas have been on the road for many years now and their batteries have held up infinitely better than the comp. They've only gotten better too.

Yeah just gotta watch for tiny paint defects and bust out the measuring kits to see if a panel gap is a mm off.

Trust, but verify.

We need to set up a series of crash tests to find out for sure.
