Shows by a long shot.

Modern movies really suck because too much is crammed into them.

Shows can breathe.

Also thinking that storytelling is the most important thing is pretty sad.

these days, I'd probably go with TV.

shows can be of similar quality to movies when it comes to acting, narrative, artistic vision, etc., and because they're given more time (10 episodes vs 2 hours, for example), they can further flesh out their stories and/or characters.

Films, because they're less likely to be bloated with unnecessary or poorly paced scenes.

I think the best shows are better than the best movies since you have more time to invest in the characters and the stories, or at least they are until they run out of ideas and don't want to end the show.

I also think movies have a higher rate of success. There are more above average or better movies than there are shows, or at least that's the way it seems. There is also more variety to movies.

a good TV show can be a whole movie stretched out into 10+ hours so you get more story and development.

Think about how much more could have been covered in Infinity War/Endgame if they had an additional 5 hours for each movie (split into 2 seasons). They would suffer from episode transitions, but if they released it all at once for people to binge watch would be fine.

Even something like Limitless; Even if you didn't enjoy the series it managed to expand on the drug and world a lot. it added a lot and the character development was a lot better than the movie.

TV has more potential because they can flesh stuff out, but they generally have lower budgets and effort put into them than movies so they're usually lower quality.

It depresses the fuck out of me that people are primarily wanting storytelling from both mediums when traditional plot and narrative is mind numbingly boring and there's probably only 30 good TV shows at most ever anyway

Shows where every episode is important to the overarching plot > Movies > Shows where 50+% of the runtime is episodic time-filler because we need to do 23 episodes per season but we only have enough plot for 4.

Streaming services have been a godsend, since they tend to promote the former type of show over the latter.
