It's the pictures that got small.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is one of my all-time favorites and it came out way before I was born. It's not pre-1960 but that's close enough right?

Oh you said pre 1970. Yeah I've seen and enjoy plenty.

actually that was the old movie i saw that made me go 'whoa, old movies can be cool.'

caught it on AMC one night and decided to watch it since the guide gave it 4 stars. was 4 hours long with commercials. i almost couldn't breathe because of how intense the final 30 minutes were. and then i was like 'damn i should watch the other 4 star old movies' which led to me finding out about TCM and i think the first movie i saw on there was 12 angry men. just snowballed from there really.

why lol. I like having subtitles on even if the voices are in English because it helps me focus on it more.

Nope. If you don't have subtitles on I guarantee you're missing important dialogue in nearly every movie you watch.

It's not that hard to read and pay attention to the visuals simultaneously.

My favorite actor is Buster Keaton. Most of my favorite films are from before I was born.

I watched Giant recently for a course I was taking. It has James Dean and Rock Hudson in it, and it's really interesting seeing the old Hollywood, almost stage acting of Hudson compared to the new Hollywood acting of Dean that so many stars of the 60s and 70s took and refined.

The movie's really good, with a lot of morally grey characters that evolve throughout. Definitely recommend, as it's the last of Dean's three credited roles and it's pretty emblematic of Hollywood switching over from their Golden Age.

I haven't fully gone through HBO Max's library (since my parents have it not me) but when I was over me and my dad looked through it and they've got a decent library of old westerns if they're your jam.
