It was a late 90s fad IIRC. People would have competitions to see who could stack and unstack plastic cups the fastest, highest, most, however they judged. Some of the sitcoms at the time got in on it too, having a character (usually the teen girl) be into cup stacking.

I thought this was going to be about that "cup song" thing. I am not familiar with what you are talking about. I was in highschool in the late 90's too. but I never went to any parties. maybe this was going on but I never knew about it

Like all niche things, they're still a thing, some people just moved on.
Wrestling, Skateboarding, Darts, Speedcubing, etc. are still "things". Just not as popular as 10 or 20 years ago. In fact, a lot of competitive activities come and go. Only the big ones remain like Football, Basketball, Handegg, some Olympic events,etc. --- Not changing this sig until The Big Dawg Roman Reigns beats cancer and wins back the Universal Title.
