Galatians. From the NT. Read it more than once, I honestly can't tell what it's trying to say.

Why does the Bible go out of the way to be as confusing, murky, and contradictory as possible? Or am I just stupid?

Well it's an epistle to the people of the region. What about it is distinct from the others?

No you're not stupid. Welcome to critical thinking. It can be hard after years of brain washing indoctrination. Its confusing on purpose. Plausible deniability. No true scotsman. Think of it like the 12 step program, If you relapse into drinking again it's not the programs fault, you didn't follow the program.

It's largely about whether Christians have to follow various rules from the OT or not. I've read it multiple times, and I still can't tell what Paul (the author) is saying. It should be straight forward. I mean, a simple yes or no would've been fine. But instead, it is completely muddled, and appears to contradict itself repeatedly. Wtf.

Truth be told, I can never remember which epistle is which. The Paul part of the Bible is pretty crazy stuff. Very hard to read. He goes into a lot of detail about lofty theoretical stuff, to an audience who lived a long time ago.

One of my favorite resources when I need a refresher is the youtube channel The Bible Project. There are a couple of their ideas that I definitely don't agree with but for the most part, I really like their analyses. Here's their video about Galatians:

Cultures back then were high context cultures, where thinking requires starting with general information to specific, background information, and nonverbal traits to communicate and understand fully.

The bible is a product of high context cultures.

We currently live in a low context culture, where information is more direct and to the point.
