These were made during WWII from 1942-1945, with 1942 being a partial year. To determine if it is one, there will always be an overbearingly large mintmark of P, D or S above Monticello. They made hundreds of millions of war nickels so they arent rare on the collector market. I personally have 12, all hunting finds, so in circulation they are rare. Can be sold for like $2-3 and a bare minimum silver content which today is $1.05. Actually somebody found this coin today and gave it to me.
