Can we please stop pushing this meme that schools are safe for children when it comes to coronavirus? Theyve been saying it since the start of the pandemic and still push it to this day. Even then, when it was only known for a few weeks, how could they be so sure kids are safe from it. like fuck that noise bro!

On top of that its like theyre treating it as some sort of 'all things equal' perfect scenario model. Acting like these kids dont have to deal with susceptible ADULT parents/guardians/teachers etc who then might contract it from the kids then spreading it around. Like yeah if you do some Lord of the Flies shit and isolate these children completely but how dumb af do you have to be to not see through the bs that schools are 'safe'

My kid is getting her GED instead of returning for senior year. She know's it's going to be a shit show. I support her decision.

Schools are safe for kids for sure. Everything is safe for kids. Coronavirus doesn't touch them. They are practically invisible. It's the people around them that are at risk due to the children being potentially asymptomatic.

Hence why the grandparent shouldn't come close to the children for the time being.

Personally I think that we should put old and fat people on lockdown and the rest of us should move with their lives with a few safety precautions to ensure that the old people don't catch covid.

this is the problem in general. if the kids are asymptomatic it will spread to any adult in the household (virus doesn't care who it is, long as it infects others).

trump treading down the dark path trying to take away school funding if they don't reopen. sure as hell not safe right now.

The thing is kids aren't perfectly safe from it. Yeah most will be alright, but some will come down with MIS-C.

Even if kids were invincible, you are talking about class rooms that involve kids from 20 different families. One kid shows up sick, they spread it to everyone else and then they go home from school and give it to their families who then unknowingly give it to whoever they come in contact with.

Also buses aren't for one individual class. One sick kid on a bus could end up infecting the entire school if the virus spread fast enough.

Even in Canada, as a substitute teacher I am low-key freaked out about returning to school. Especially since I most often come in for an ill teacher and.... WTF are they ill with?

This. People who say that kids are mostly safe are missing the point.
