He is right. States such as NY, CA, WA, MS, AL, SC, etc are already locks. Your votes against the lock whether it is blue/red in those states for the president aren't as important as the swing states.

Honestly the GOP is finished regardless. Texas, Arizona, North Carolina, and Georgia will be blue within eight years. The only tradeoff is Ohio is looking to be reliably red for the foreseeable future.

Agreed. The Electoral College was established to help prevent the, "tyranny of the majority" over the rich, landed elite who actually ran the country. The framers didn't even try to hide it, they stated it in plain English in Federalist 10.

This entire country is based off the premise that democracy is fine until the poor people rise up and try to take what's theirs. The Electoral College lets them have elections so that people feel like their vote matters, but they weigh the votes in such a manner that the rich will always stay powerful, and in control.

You would have to abolish the entire notion of individual states in order to make the Senate obsolete. Until then, the Senate absolutely stays exactly the way it is.

What charade? I would love an actual democracy, not some bullshit system designed specifically to prevent democracy. I certainly don't believe that actual democracy would result in a 'one party leftist state', because Americans are mostly not leftists, only like the youngest generation prefers socialism to capitalism and to even most americans who like socialism, they just mean they want free healthcare and don't know what actual socialism is. It is not a leftist country, regardless of what I would want, and actual democracy would not result in that.

This is supposed to prevent the federal government from having too much power over individual states. You do not think people outside of your own bubble matter, which is why youre Ok with controlling them. Limit the power of the president and the federal government in general, and it will be easier to convince smaller states to reform the electoral college.
