While we were having dinner. It was locked, but my dog completly lost his shit which scared my daughter and got her crying. And the guy was outside yelling something.

I grabbed my glock and went to see what the fuck was going on. Guy said he thought it was his friends house. So you walked up to your friends house that you've never been to and instead of knocking you just try and open the door to let yourself in?

Fucking idiot

1. I didn't threaten him, he didn't even know I had my gun.

2. I didn't insult him. Not to his face at least. I did ask him why he thought it'd be a good idea to just try and walk into a house he's never been to before, but that seems like a fair question even if it came across as rude.

3. he wasn't just "at my door", he tried to come into my house without even knocking or ringing the door bell. If he'd knocked I probably would have still been annoyed but mistakes happen. And thankfully the door was locked, cause I sure as shit would have been a lot less nice if he just walked into my house.

I live in a townhouse, so I don't really worry too much about break ins while I'm home. If there's an altercation my neighbors will probably hear it.

That said I still lock my doors and have a loaded Remington under my bed. Better safe than sorry."

Insecurity is marked by the following:

  1. needing, often seeking validation from outside sources through stories, compliments, etc.
  2. often demoralized (very quickly) by outside sources. A slight criticism is perceived as a hostile threat.
It is most certainly a horrible trait to have; outside forces both make and then break the insecure person/

The insecure brain will want to know more. But there is nothing else to know.

You don't need outside sources (other CEmen) for validation. You're not truly needing a response to his question.

I'm not sure why some of you are pretending like I shoved a gun in this guys face.

This is literally the first time I've ever grabbed it for a situation like this and I've owned guns since I was a teenager. And I feel like someone trying to force themselves into my house with my family inside and then standing outside my front door yelling is a more than appropriate situation to stand behind my half opened door with a pistol hidden in my hand in case this guy tries to force himself into my house.

We want to be skillful with our words, though.

Any time someone is not in a happy or neutral state of mind, then they are in a suffering state of mind. Whatever feeling it is for him (anxiety, fear, anger, disapproval, non-acceptance, etc), he is really feeling that.

It's our duty to see anything that is neither contentment or neutrality as suffering. We don't take his words as threats because he is suffering, not us.

When we take someone else's personal suffering as an insult, we lose.

We do it all too often whether online or IRL situations. That's how arguments occur and how we break bonds; we fail to see people's suffering as suffering; instead we view it as an attack. It is nothing more than a small (or large) cry for assistance.

Here for you, bud.
