It fixes many of the plot holes and makes the movie flow better but if you already hated the movie? It's certainly trash by today's standards, but I don't think it's much worse than, say, any of the Raimi Spiderman movie. It manages to be legitimately entertaining and memorable despite its flaws. It definitely should have had a sequel. Movies like Elektra and Catwoman, on the other hand?
