It would've been too fucking easy for him to wear a mask, take basic precautions, lead his base in the charge to do so and then when he had his opponents slipping on it or refusing, he could have easily called them on they bullshit and said they hate America because they want to bring the virus to you and your family.

It would've been so easy. And it would've likely helped his poll numbers in a great way.

I just don't get it. This man has plenty reason to want to be and stay President. Are his advisors so brain dead stupid that they couldn't get him to understand that? Or is he just incapable of understanding?

The only level it might make sense on is if he was explicitly bungling his handling to make his medical company executive buddies more money.

Trumpvirus affects minorities and big cities (which are democratic) more than anything else.

Chew on that.

I'm pretty sure his primary motivation is to get the economy going, since he seems to be banking on it to win reelection.

Almost any other politician probably would have admitted they were wrong and tried to get this pandemic down, cause you know? Killing your voters is a pretty stupid idea.

He's a deeply vain and stupid man who leads a party ideologically opposed to providing people with the financial support needed to make staying at home viable.

He viewed the economy as his ticket to re-election, and so he avoided taking coronavirus seriously as a threat for fear that doing so would cause economic tumult. That became unavoidable, but he has also internalized the idea that admitting you're wrong or apologizing makes you weak.

He's probably doing it to get his demographic supporters to vote for him while doing another stimulus check before the election to gain extra voters.

He legitimately runs on a 100% anti-democrat platform. If Democrats encourage something, he rallies 120% the other way.

But they were voting for him anyways.

And there's a fuck ton of reasons to not want to vote for him, regardless of if "he" gave you a check or not

Not all of them were because of the way he's handling covid 19.

He probably thought he was earnestly trying to contain it early on, but after people soured on his handling of it, he realized he probably couldn't win a fair election and is now doing everything in his power to intentionally destabilize the country to make an actual election impossible.

How is saying "it won't be an issue" and "it's a hoax, our cases are going to be zero soon" in any way, shape, or form "earnestly trying to contain it early on" in your eyes?

Cause the only thing he did that was "good" (albeit, people did bitch about it) was slowing travel from China, but iirc, it didn't have any quarantine period for those returning. The guy has consistently been against testing or helping anyone using federal resources since day 1, so idk what he did that was trying to contain it at all.

What reasons are those?

He could be doing pretty much anything else, considering hes got money, even if maybe it isnt as much as hed like us to think it is. He also proved he could get elected, regardless of it being one term or two.

Seriously, all he would have to do is the blame game if things didn't go his way... but nope he has taken such hard stances about the virus being a hoax that he has his own followers now becoming conspiracy theorists. Seriously this is the most I've seen in a long time.

It makes sense on this level:

1) He doesnt want to ever admit that anything bad could happen on his watch.

2) He doesnt want to admit that hes ever wrong.

Base on this, he refused to acknowledge that Covid could and would hit America, because bad stuff doesnt happen under his presidency. And once it did get here and started wrecking havoc, he was in denial mode because he wasnt wrong.

I very much think Trump is an idiot, but hes also very much a noted germaphobe. Behind closed doors, I bet hes paranoid about this thing. In front of the cameras, he pounds his chest.
