if you keep labeling the current opponent as "The leftist lefty that's ever left", you can then use that to:

  • justify your guy being ever further to the right as a counterbalance
  • move the perceived center to the right
  • move the "moderate" left candidates to the right
it's disgusting, and terribly effective.
