Why cant they get education and training through work, while at the same time repaying their debt to society?

That's fine with me, and would even be ideal, as long as they also get paid a fair wage. I didn't propose that because I doubt people would go for that. When you talk about improving conditions for imprisoned people and talk about how that would make prison a much more useful institution for the people there and free people, people usually short circuit. They freak out about how we shouldn't be paying for bad people when we don't pay for good people. And that never works out to helping free people, it always means we take away something from imprisoned people.

Cant refute what he says. Got it.

how about you argue the point yourself instead of blindly sending YouTube links from known racists :)

say it in your own words. No plagiarizing your racist friend. Hopefully you were taught how to do that back in grade school.

I cant remember which country it is, Sweden i think, where their prime directive is rehabilitation and i think their crime rate is quite low in comparison to the US. I dont know if they have the best prison system in the world but i think thats what we should be aiming for. Youre right that people would just see the comfy rooms and lose their shit. I think people outside of prison should be helped a lot more than they currently are as well

Committing a crime and going to prison does not make you a slave
Slavery is literally and explicitly allowed as a form of punishment under the 13th amendment.

Waiting on the post that compares prison with slavery.... 3,2,1

And it's always the privatized ones (the ones that Cali inmates WANT to go to because better food and canteen).

Damn ninjad quick I gotta be faster on weekend CE

Theres literally an exception listed in the 13th amendment that allows for slavery

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Funny how people who beat their chest the hardest and yell USA USA USA the loudest typically know fuck all about the constitution
