Two things to remember -

1) A very large number of accounts like this are actually deliberate troll bots
2) People like this (who are actually real, at least) are very loud, very annoying but actually aren't as popular or impactful as their likes and retweets (often with fake accounts) actually suggest.

For most, it doesn't. Some people aren't able to wear it for long periods of time due to weaker lungs, but these people fighting for the right to not wear a mask don't seem to realize that they don't need to wear the mask for hours on end. Just a few minutes while you're shopping or going into a business. That's it.

They also scatter like roaches when you point out that the purpose of mask wearing is to avoid infecting others, not to protect yourself, because it shifts the "who cares if I put myself at risk" argument to "who cares if I put everyone else at risk" and they naturally, and rightfully, look like jerks.

Lot of people ITT missing the point of the Ben Franklin macro. It's not about refusing to wear masks. It's about slowly losing your constitutional rights in the name of "safety". Free speech is being censored en masse, and the majority of the press deliberately highlights stories that deal with racial tension and stoking the flames of animosity between people. Assembly is being "taken away" because they want everyone to stay home. Anti-gun ownership is being pushed hard.

We don't live in 1984. In fact, somewhat ironically, if anything the biggest political statement of 1984 (the use of revisionist history, memory holes, deliberately false information taken as true, etc) applies more to Trump than it does anyone else.

The "Deep State" isn't real. George Soros isn't trying to microchip you. Liberals aren't trying to turn you into hand-out addicted voter sheep.

Infectious disease and public health is what it is. You have to be an adult about it and stop playing around like you're some Guy Fawkes mask-wearing defender of rights. Because you're not. You're just spreading false equivalencies and getting people killed (and wrecking the economy in the process).

And while I'm on the subject - you know what's the BEST way to avoid censoring free speech? Not diarrhea-farting out misinformation that gets people killed so often and in such high volumes that it becomes a necessity.

Take it from someone who has been there - redpill conservatism is an echo chamber of unchecked false information and, basically, a cult.

I'm absolutely sick of this right-wing, flood-of-misinformation, dog-whistling BS. And I'm absolutely ashamed that I didn't see it for what it obviously was for the past two decades.

And yet, the saddest part of all is that merely choosing to fact check it is all it took to break that firmament and realize that it was a world constructed entirely out of lies, logical fallacies, doublespeak, newspeak and a constant influx of unchecked misinformation. All of this to prop up politicians who are objectively terrible at their job and in desperate need of votes.

From an outsider's perspective which I (thankfully) now have, it's astonishing to me just how persistently illogical, irrational and outright irresponsible it all is. And the fringe fuels so much of it without the mainstream conservatives even realizing it. Sean Hannity being a sort of gateway drug between the two.

As I said before, it's a cult. A cult predicated on the idea that you cannot trust academics, you cannot trust the government (or half of it, at least), you cannot trust the media (unless it says what you want to hear) etc.

The reason you're told you can't trust them is because, if you listen to them, you'll realize you're being called out. For being wrong. Because you're wrong.
