I'll still go to EVO next year...hopefully it will be better.

I'm not going to let these horrible events ruin my enjoyment of Smash and the rest of the fighting game community. I feel sad for the victims of the assaults; I hope they will not be deterred from being members of our community. However, as someone else said, although some of the people we looked up to aren't as wholesome as they seem, these horrible acts had to be brought to attention in order to purge the community of bad influences.

Hopefully next EVO will be better than ones past, with less toxicity. Maybe some fresh faces will become the new figureheads we look up to, and they'll actively protect the community so that it will be more welcoming to all.

(I could have worded my post better, but I hope you get what I'm trying to convey.)

Combo Breaker maybe.

Also agreed TC. Unfortunately some of the people named in Melee were known to be creepy with girls but not really to this extent, or proof wasn't available to act on it. Genuinely hope this brings change for the better and also shows pieces of shit that they aren't welcome.

Yeah, EVO is (sadly) one of my favorite times of the year and I wont let this fiasco ruin my enjoyment of the next EVO or equivalent event.

Maybe this time they'll enforce their "core values"

As someone who's followed the melee scene for a few years now the past few days have been pretty tough to watch. I never idolized people like D1 or DJ Nintendo but I always did enjoy their commentary, and I assumed they were positive influences in the community. I did think SleepyK was kinda weird though.

Out with the trash IMO. Melee has survived so much, it'll survive this too. I mean Slippi just dropped and will contribute to new growth. We just need to realize that some of the shit that people would just brush off is NOT okay.

I dunno about Ultimate though. I don't follow that scene.

I caught Max's take on it last night, and it was respectable. Tired of shitheads in the community. He had plans on KI commentary to pretty much say "black lives matter, wear a goddamn mask, and play on".

It bothers me that this could be and probably is a microcosm of the gaming community as a whole.
