What a shitty time it must be to be a small child, having to be raised during a pandemic and trying to learn how the world works, having to think that things like social distancing and wearing face masks are just normal things that people have always done. As bad as this whole situation is for adults and everyone else, its gotta so much more confusing and discouraging for small children that literally dont know any better than whats currently going on. And then theres the even worse potential issue of people not wanting to bring children into the world at all right now which could have negative implications on birth rates over the next few years...if theres any group of people that are really getting screwed over by this pandemic its the children.

Humans are surprisingly adaptable (most of the time) and children also. They might squawk and complain and cry and be loud about it, but they can adjust to a new normal just as well as the rest of us.

I don't think they would be too negatively affected. Kids in my neighborhood seem happy to not go to school.

My 5 and 6 year old are the same. Im just worried about school. That may be the massive difference.

We can still get out and go for walks and bike rides. But school may massively change for them.

Things have relaxed here, but for a while my 4 year old kept asking why she couldnt go to daycare or see her grandparents. After a few times she understood, but it was still heartbreaking to explain why her grandparents were potentially vulnerable, and that even though we didnt feel sick we could still pass it on, if we had it. So we had to wait. FaceTime/Skype has been great, though.

I've was of the opinion before the pandemic that masks should be more acceptable in public. Its the right thing to do that if you're feeling sick then you should cover up instead coughing and hacking everywhere.

Asian cultures have never been shy about this and I really wish we would have adopted this in the past and I hope in the future, even after covid is over, that people will be more willing to wear them when appropriate.

Its common courtesy tbh.

Common courtesy seems somewhat uncommon these days.

I may be wrong, but as far as I was aware, surgical masks are worn by surgeons to reduce the chance of introducing a bacterial infection to the surgical site. Never mind their preventative powers for the wearer, they are also intended to prevent any unknowing carriers from spreading the virus further, as much as possible.
