Reading that in Kevin Conroy's voice doesn't feel...genuine. Like it's something his Batman would never say.

I saw the animated movie the other day of Hush. Apparently Hush was supposed to be Thomas Elliot but the movie made The Riddler Hush LMAO

Well, no, I kind of get where he's coming from there. Like he's not against breaking someone to get what he wants. He won't kill them but he carries out his work with no empathy. Clark acts in such a way that values humanity and doing good in the world whereas Bruce has a deep-rooted hatred of criminality and isn't afraid to push boundaries or cross lines in order to exercise it.

In other words it takes more than not being willing to kill people to make you a vigilante with good intentions. Superman is the type of guy who might go home at night and question if he handled a situation as best he could whereas Batman would never second-guess himself if he accomplished his goal.

Interestingly it's always Superman who flies off the deep-end in alternate reality stories and becomes a fascist and Batman becomes the voice of the oppressed instead of the other way around, which makes more sense when you take into account their worldviews.

They just simplified the story. Riddler was still the main bad in the comic. They just combined both roles on to him.

Everyone should watch the episode "Old Wounds" from the Batman TV show. It shows a great narrative on how unempathetic Batman is and tells us why Dick gave up Robin and became Nightwing.

It also showed how Batman could still be considered a good person deep down. One of the most interesting things about that show is how Batman changes over time. Earlier on Batman and Bruce Wayne are two distinct individuals. And Bruce Wayne is a wonderful, upstanding citizen. But as the show goes on, the two eventually blend together. Life as Batman obviously wore him down. Kevin Conroy even did a different voice for Bruce earlier in the show that got dropped later on.

Ultimately, DCAU Batman was a good guy. Probably one of the nicer versions of the character.
