I think for some people they are just so insecure that any sort of rejection is an utterly demoralizing prospect. When if you have self-assurance you realize that either nothing changes or something good happens. I can't even count how many women I've asked out that had boyfriends or were married, most of them at least told me they'd say yes if they were available, some of them I even became friends with, and none of them were rude in any way.

It's just to expedite things. A person might have 3 or 4 opportunities a week to talk to women. Online you can have those 3 or 4 opportunities in 5 minutes.

Location has a lot to do with it too, you know. If you live in Bumblefuck, Iowa, then you're probably not going to have any options compared to living in NYC.
