Thank you, it's nice that someone noticed lol. I'm always looking for more psychedelic and mystical pieces, it's pretty hard where I live tho. I haven't really started checking ebay or for speciality online shops cuz I definitely plan to drop at least one more size before I move into maintenance.

I also love preppy clothing and high end sweatshirts, that's what I'll usually wear to work. If I'm going out tho my objective is always to have a look that stands out. My favorite piece is an all over print sweatshirt with numerous red eyes and a big vampiric grin. I'll sometimes draw runes on my face with liquid liner.

I just feel like if I'm going to bother expressing myself at all, I really want to bring these feelings and ideas from deep beneath the surface and create a look that makes people curious about what kind of person I am.
Thats a good outlook to have tbh. I feel like if youre looking for hippy/mystic sorts of clothes sorts of things, music/head shops sometimes have sell stuff in that vein. I think youll have some good luck if you go online too, but it can be tough to make the leap into buying clothes online since the quality tends to be hit or miss.

I grew up in thrift store clothes so I never had cool shit until I was a teenager, but I was so afraid to express myself for most of my life because of my weight, that now it's kind of exhilarating to try and push it as far as I can.

That's a good idea on the head/music shops, I'll have to look a couple up next time I go to Colorado. I deliver this catalog marketed to middle age women called The Pyramid Collection, they mostly sell like witch and pirate style clothing and most of it is so so corny but they have some straight heat in there too lmao. I've definitely been a little frustrated buying online from a certain retailer recently because I got 7 all over print sweatshirts and 4 of them were printed on the same brand and all fit perfectly while the other 3 were printed on 3 different brands and those fit really poorly, I just don't understand why they wouldn't print them all on the same brand.

I actually just remembered you pointed me to H&M in another topic and I still haven't checked them out.

Yeah, you should! I bought my BF some cool floral dress shirts there, and theyre usually cheap because most guys are afraid to wear them.

Even their regular prices are reasonable, and I haven't even looked at the sale items. I like a lot of what I've seen tho, a lot of the solid stuff would be useful for color blocking outfits and the printed designs they do have are pretty neat. Thanks for the heads up!

Do you have any particular persons or media that has inspired your style?

Yeah, I think theyre one of the better places as far as the balance between price and quality goes.

And not really. It just sort of developed naturally. The idea of having rows of jars or having books surrounding me has always had a certain appeal to me.

Generally, dad-goth. That is now a thing, for I have made it a thing.

My work attire has tended toward:

  • Solovair boots (using the original Doc Martens equipment)
  • Black jeans
  • Black shirt, or shirt of a dark or patterned nature
  • Black leather blazer (now rather old and shabby) or a vintage thigh-length leather jacket my wife found for me in a reddish brown

My casual attire tends towards:

-black jeans or shorts, depending on the weather
-Black band t-shirt
-one of many pairs of Dr Martens boots, such as a rather old oxblood pair, a sueded pair covered in white paint streaks, a pair of 12 holes with a panel that buckles over the laces
-in the winter, a black Tyrell Corporation hoodie
-one of many black jackets

The Skys Gone Out for Bauhaus. From the Eno cover to the self-contained songs and the The Three Shadows triptych. All excellent. Some versions contain the Ziggy Stardust cover, which is amazing. Party of the First Part is also great.

My favourite Sisters album is Floodland. It is perhaps their first nod to the mainstream, but there are so many *anthemic* songs there. Driven Like the Snow is my personal favourite, along with Ribbons from Vision Thing.
Some Girls Wander By Mistake is also great - a snapshot of their early years with some brilliant songs. (Alice is on this compilation, IIRC).

The Mission is also worth investigating if you enjoy the Sisters (IIRC Wayne Hussey of The Mission was either bassist or guitarist in the early Sisters lineup), as is The Merry Thoughts, who were essentially a glorified tribute band.

Skeletal Family are also Good Value.

I mentioned magick in my post and yeah I'm somewhat into it. I've done some rituals and I read those sort of books from time to time. I believe it's a real thing in some way and I enjoy hearing of the experiences of others. That way of life doesn't feel very compatible with being a dad and having a family and partner to take care of, so I don't do as much as when I lived alone.
