first one is a masterpiece definitely. But its gameplay is rough around the edges but still really fun. People complain about the overdone hacking mini game but you dont HAVE to hack. You can beat the game without hacking at all.

second games story is not nearly as good as the first but the gameplay has improved

the third is my least favorite. It has a really cool story but they made it into a generic linear shooter. The first one was an open map similar to Doom and resident evil

There's not much dept for gameplay as a FPS but it's pretty simple combat. The game main's focus is the narrative, characters. atmosphere and story. It's a movie game IMO.

Id pay good money for an current gen remake.

Didn't understand the hype. The intro was great but after that i didn't get much out of the story or gameplay. Id seen much better stories in games and much better shooter with rpg element games.

I did play it a few years after it released. Maybe that played a part

I think part of it was that when the first Bioshock got released, a lot of full-of-shit conservatives were starting to lean into objectivism and Ayn Rand's work, which the first game lampoons pretty hard. So it did have a zeitgeist factor.
