Partially, but the stupid fucks refusing to wear masks and distance themselves are equally as responsible. The businesses not requiring masks to enter their buildings are also.

I went to a Walmart and a Kroger in Tennessee last week, and MAYBE 10% of people were wearing masks. These idiots are bringing it on themselves.

Don't blame this entirely on government, the stupid fucking citizens that are inconvenienced by wearing a mask in public is a tremendous issue also.

NYC resident here. Smh I can tell you shit about how I hear someone died every day, the sirens were literally a constant between 15 to 20 minutes delayed all through the night. as a survivor I sometimes still feel short of breath as of March

What part of NYC are you in? The ones I know consistently shows videos walking down the street where there are dozens of unused ambulances all day. He does 2 hour long videos and there's not a single siren the entire video. He puts them out regularly.

Seriously. Nobody around here gives a fuck about masks anymore. I'm going to church now (my parents insist on it, and if they're already going I'm going to be exposed at home), and I can tell you 90% of the attendees (around 300-400 per service) have no face coverings at all. I wouldn't walk into that place if my uncle didn't send us Korean N95 equivalents.

Anywhere that doesn't require masks has less than half of the people wearing masks where I live. And places that do require masks, most people don't even cover their nose.

I get that they needed to open up, but clearly they were stupid about how they did it. I know hope and prayers do nothing, but that's all I can give them.

The protests that started about 4 weeks ago? That happened in many places that aren't seeing these surges?

No doubt they had some effect, and it's hypothesized that non-protesters have stayed in more in places where things have gotten ugly to offset some of that. But these spikes don't appear to be tied to the protests.
