Jesus, I wasted a ton of saves with Jill on Easy. If I had played Normal I probably wouldn't have beaten the game. There was a stretch in the mid point where I was consistently at 4 or less saves. I probably saved after every death mask, whereas this time I got three and the key to Yawn's room in one save. I just got to the residence and used my eighth save, so I think I'm on decent track to not run low.

I see what people mean about feeling like Chris gets more head shots. But I feel like it's because zombies take more bullets, so you have more chances to proc the head shot. And now that I'm at Residence I basically don't have to worry about burning bodies until I get to the lab. I think I'm doing alright on ammo, and I saved Richard this time so I should be getting that sweet shotgun I missed out on. But I'm a little worried about that plant because I beat it with VJOLT with Jill <_<

Also I was doing really bad with having items for a while. The game is kinda stingy in the first areas prior to getting the armor key I feel like. Now I have a good stock pile though. IIRC it's Residence (get past the sharks and kill the plant), Helmet key mansion (get the battery to get behind the waterfall), caves (kill tentacle hair girl and get something that gives access to the lab), and then out course the lab itself.

But I'm having fun. Managing items is a lot easier when you have some idea as to what's coming.

The thing the RE games do all the time is make you think you're in more danger than you really are.

There is no need to save constantly or panic when enemies turn up

RE0 is deeply flawed single player co-op

So it depends, do you want to play the good games first or last?

On the first play through it was always difficult to keep track of what I had actually done since my last save. It was also unclear when I'd get more saves lol. Especially in the beginning where you cab get a ton of saves all at once, and you don't get any more until Residence. So I thought I'd be getting more saves than I actually did lmao.

Edit: I ask because I have both here. The Origins Collection comes with 0, so I feel like I might a well. And the gimmick means that there's only one play through i guess.

It's not difficult it's just awkward and dull.

There's some poor design on display because you keep having to swap between characters. It's like a mediocre multiplayer game by yourself with no AI. I like the concept of trying new ideas but there's a reason why that doesn't work.

I'd suggest playing it on easy just to get through it faster. especially if you struggled on RE1make.

I bought the origins collection a few years ago.

I really loved the remake but I didn't think that 0 was worth my while. Regardless I beat 0.

Yeah I'll just give it a shot on Easy. If I really like it I can always play it again.

Bare in mind REmake was the first survival horror style game I ever played, so the learning curve was a little new to me. But tbh I think I'll just be doing Easy on all these games on my first run, unless RE2make is substantially easier/ more intuitive.

It's debatable.

It's a lot more intuitive and you have a lot more options at your disposal.

But it also requires more skill and as I said earlier, tries to make you think you're in danger when you're not. So it's "difficulty" depends largely on your personality.

That being said the difficulty settings in RE2make are huge. Especially if you play on console.

Casual has aim assist, you're a walking tank and unlimited saves.
Hardcore you die fast and limited saves (although tons of ink ribbons)

If you suck at horror games don't play RE2make on Hardcore, at least not first time. You will not have fun

I'll probably just play the equivalent to normal. I have a better grasp of what the mindset is supposed to be now I think.

From reading online, the ammo pool is way way larger on Easy. Like the total available handgun ammo jumps from 40 to 200 in the first section lol.

Weird, REmake actually crashed on me whet using the garbage compactor. For thing I saved recently.

But that's a wrap. 21 saves used, 8:30 which i think is a little slow for a second play through. Oh well lol.

Also these achievements stats are kinda wild. 64% play until the first zombie is dead, but only 11% beat the game on Easy or higher (17% on very easy or higher). And Normal brings that down to 5% lol.

I'm paying 0 on Easy (with liberal guide consultation tbh) and jeez they absolutely drown you in healing items and ammo. I definitely have 200+ handgun bullets and zombies take 3 shots to drop. Also it seems the series had already taken a big tonal shift by the time this came out lol.

I couldn't play through 0 past the first boss. I don't know if the co op thing gets better, but it wasn't fun to play.

And, tonally, the game is weird. Slug monsters and a weird guy singing opera in a bathrobe. Resident Evil has always been campy, but that was too much for me. You also play as Rebecca Chambers, who somehow winds up helpless at the mansion afterwards. Rebecca Chambers sucks. If you're pulling characters from the first game irrespective of their outcome, you have better choices in Richard and the BRAVO team leader, Enrico. Richard, in particular, is bro.

As an aside, I read somewhere that if you dismember zombies they don't go crimson. Not true if it's just their arm you blow off I found out to my chagrin.

Destroying their kneecaps works according to all sources I've found. It's just seems that grow back for some reason lol.

There's also a handful of zombies types that never turn crimson at all.

Thanks for the warning. Idk why that is said so often lol.

Can you confirm whether far zombies can go crimson? I never burn them and I've never seen one go red, but you never know.

I played through REmake one time, and I definitely tryharded it. I would basically do test runs and map out a strategy before my next save. Made maps and shit. Strategically killed zombies on top of each other to conserve oil. By the time the game was over, I had over 100 rounds for the grenade launcher and a ton of other ammo, and obviously could have just tried enjoying the game.
