They are both AMD CPU's, most likely the same exact one, and the same RDNA2 GPU from the same company -- AMD again.

The only difference will be coming down to OS/ease of use/SSD performance and in Sony's case, if their new architecture for their SSD lives up to the hype.

but again, different generations had different hardware companies betting on those contracts against each other. e.g: ps3 was nvidia, 360 was ATi, sony made their own for the Ps2 (with help), gamecube used a very advanced ATi chip at the time, so on and so forth.

this generation is a cpu/gpu battle of AMDxAMD vs AMDxAMD. who really cares, there isn't a "better in every way" here for either console. they fundamentally use different forks of the same shit. this generation is pitting SSD vs SSD and that's really the only fireworks to look out for besides for software/game design side of things.

The Base PS4 and Xbox One both used AMD as well, but that isn't the be all end all. The actual specs matter. A higher clock speed, more GPU CU, etc...

The XSX GPU benchmarks better and don't believe Sony's fucking bullshit about their SSD. They are pathological liars.

But all that shit is irrelevant anyway.

At the end of the day, Xbox got game pass ultimate + xcloud and full bc with the X1. Sony only got partial BC and nothing to compete with Game Pass Ultimate + xCloud.

I play on Xbox and won't ever switch to PS5, (Ghost of Tsushima looks cool but that's it) I really do wish they'd branch out and start acquiring more diverse studios for exclusives. Every Xbox exclusive is an absolute bore, it's insane.

that's what MS has done in the last year or two, they acquired Obsidian, Ninja Theory, Double Fine, I think the Wasteland devs

all of those are a bit more diverse than just shooters and racing games historically, and I think MS knows enough to keep it that way

and then the games never come, or the games that do come out with a trickle are either multiplat anyway, or just not good, like Bleeding Edge, No Man's Sea, and that Honey, I Shrunk the Kids game. And probably that sequel to whatever Ninja Theory's game was called.

Don't think they've ever really said that. They bought the dev team that made gears and put out like 4 different games since. They bought Mojang and have made 2 new Minecraft games since as well as tons of updates to regular Minecraft. They haven't had a mass purchasing spree like they did last year.

It is likely that it will, for console exclusives and first party titles. Multiplatform won't have access to the same SSD's that the PS5 will use, so it is unlikely that any third party developers will put the extra effort in.

The PS5 SSD will probably make some parts of development easier for developers but I doubt the end result will be noticeable for gamers. Majority of games will look or perform slightly better on the XSX.

I go to Nintendo for their great 1st party exclusives and Sony for the multiplat games I want, plus an exclusive or two. What does Xbox even have anymore? I was a massive Gears fan years ago, but that franchise was run into the ground.

Exclusives are partially the reason why they don't.

If there isn't much for one particular console to offer, there isn't a sense in buying it except for your friends also playing on it, or real specific reasons like playing Rock Band and carrying over the DLC you bought on its predecessor console

The average person doesn't have a super powerful gaming PC either. Which is why Sony also isn't bothering to pay for timed exclusives to stay off PC and porting games like Horizon and Predator to it.

Both PS5 and Xbox Series X will have a lot of games the other console won't have.

this 100%, feels like every year they talk about how there is some new commitment to games but the games never materialize. The last really good big Xbox exclusive was Halo 3 imo and that was 13 years ago
