Phil prides himself on being (50%) Italian, and that sauce is part of his proud "heritage", it's the only thing his fragile little ego "has". He has his 11 year old legacy, but everyone knows that if he were gone tomorrow, no one would care. But being "Italian" is something no one can take away from him, so if Phil gets ridiculed for that, you are hitting a really sore spot. So for me it makes total sense that he would react the way he does.

1] Wants to get the goal quickly so the chat doesn't stress out about making it so that's the only thing they talk about during the end of the stream.

3] Complains about that's all the chat talks about. Wants to focus on gameplay. If they don't make it, that's fine, he's happy they made it this far

4] Brings up that they haven't made the goal yet

5] Someone tells him he's the one that keeps bring it up. Of course not, he's doing nothing wrong with promoting

6] Complains that is all people are talking about

7] Brings up that they haven't met the goal yet. . .again and again

8] Whale comes in at the last min and brings him up to the $100

There is literally no pleasing him: whatever his audience does is wrong. It's like all the times he bitches them out for not talking to him, then when someone asks a question that could start a conversation, he answers with two words. Or he flips out because it's not a question he wants to answer. His fans pay for him to live a lifestyle he could never hope to live otherwise, yet he loathes them and routinely treats them like shit.

The reason Phil has no achievements, is because Phil has no passion, motivation, or ambition. He doesn't set any goals for himself, never works towards anything. Because of this, he literally has no prospects, job oppertunities and even within the industry he is active in, he is openly mocked. No one wants to collaborate, no one wants to be a sponsor. And the viewers who do actually want to play with Phil, get shunned because he is amazingly paranoid.

Sure, one might be jealous of the money he makes annualy, but if look at how he makes it and how much of a mess his life is, that jealously instantly evaporates. This is a man who claims others are jealous of him, while having declared bankruptcy mere months ago and somehow sees that as a victory. And this is a man pushing 40.

He has no friends, no family, no one to fall back on. If everything goes tits up, his best prospects are burgerflipping after he loses his current gig. Phil actually believes he could work at Boeing or Microsoft or some shit. But Phil has at least a 10 year gap in his resume, he has no refferences and if ANY employer bothers to look up Phil Burnell on Google they can find his "12 year" legacy and everything that entails: his toxic personality, his complete and utter disdain for the people her relies on and everything else you can think of. If you look at his personality, he is utter imcapable of working with other people, because his is so extremely sensitive to criticism. No one could ever tell Phil about his mistakes or how he could improve.

He is pretty much unhireable except for the lowest tier of jobs.

At the very least, he would have fewer haters and he might actually enjoy what he does. I think Phil's biggest problem is his complete and utter lack of self-awareness. He has tried embracing memes several times now, and it does indeed cause small surges of popularity but it never lasts, because when new people get introduced to the ACTUAL Phil, they just leave.

For example, when he tweeted the thing with ProJared and tried capitalizing on him masturbating on stream, he did gain a lot of new viewers. But they were one time only, because after seeing Phil being his toxic self on stream, they just moved on to other streams, and Phil was once again stuck with his regulars. Same thing happens every time he plays a new game on release day, he gets a couple of extra day one views, but none of them stick.

Problem is that outside of those regular 200-300 viewers, lots of people know Phil, but for all the wrong reasons, and as such, they will never watch him. Phil could attract a much larger audience, but that doesn't happen by him simply embracing the memes, it would take a HUGE change in personality. Unless Phil seeks actual professional help (and I don't mean this in a demeaning way), he is going to continue on track the way he always has. He cannot change without outside help, and he is probably convinced he doesn't need to change either.

If Phil had actual self-awareness, he could use him being bad at videogames as an actual unique selling point. If he could laugh at his own fuck ups and have a good time with his chat about it, he would be both more relatable and more enjoyable to watch. People don't watch streamers to see them vomit excuses why they fucked up something. People watch streamers to be entertained. But Phil often lashes out at his chat, that they are not focussing their attention on him, because he is borderline boring to watch.

Phil is like a stand-up comedian angry at his audience, because they don't provide him with good material and then refuse to laugh at whatever comes out of his mouth.

I guess a lot of my ideas for Phil doing things differently would involve him embracing change much earlier, like before he left Connecticut, back when he still had friends and hadn't completely isolated himself. At present, Phil is irredeemable, but I think in his early YouTube days there was a slight possibility that someone could have talked some sense into him. For example, if he had reacted differently to the criticism of his MGS2 playthrough, laughing at himself instead of blaming the game, he could have prevented TIHYDPs from coming into existence. Or if he had embraced that first TIHYDP, he might have prevented the birth of the organized detractor community. I know those scenarios are unlikely, but it's fun to pretend his story is more complicated than him always being a toxic narcissist who never could have been better than he is.

If the detractors just forget about him, I'm sure DSP would likely fade into obscurity. For as much shit as he gives the detractors, they are pretty much what's keeping him in the little limelight he is in now. Sure, he'd still have the whales giving him money, but people would most likely not tune into his streams, meaning he would get less viewers than he has now.

Phil is paving the way for another tax begathon. He hasn't paid his taxes this years, owes about 20k, but has no actual plan, other than hoping he can get back into his original payment plan.

Speaking of paving the way, he made it painfully known that he has no money to pre-order the PS5. The pre-orders are going up soon, but unless someone buys it for him, he will not be playing on the PS5 on launch day.

He keeps saying that it isn't a cult, that he doesn't manipulate people into giving him what he wants, but then basically tells them to do it anyways.

LOL! Kat works 8 hours at a grocery store while pigroach plays video games, and he has the nerve to get upset about doing the dishes. Holy shit.

If you think that is bad: When he was with Leanna, he said on stream and then proceeded to do so and wake here up while she was sick so she could make him dinner.

Oh absolutely, the only thing that truly matters to a narcissist is potential usefulness. The only thing they care about is how much they can get from that person, once the well dries up, they usually get thrown under the bus. Since Phil's parents still have usefulness to him, he won't kill off all contact. His mom gave him (assuming it is true of course) 4.000 dollars earlier this year after he got wed. Hell, he even had his parents come over to help him paint.

Sorry for the double post.

Something weird happened, and I cannot help but wonder. But, with about 30 minutes left during the night stream, Phil was sitting at 25 dollars in tips. He then went to refill his water and he got a tip of 30 dollars.

Then with just 15 minutes left in the stream he received 2 nearly identical tips of 43 and 45 dollars. Phil thanked them and made it a point that neither of the tippers were regulars.

This kind of fits the idea that myself and some others here have that he indeed contacts his whales directly in some sort of way in order to get the money he needs. Because there is no way that 2 new people just out of no where tip the same amount to make him reach the tip goal.

Now I admit this is al very speculative, but it is weird as fuck that he goes to refill water and the tips roll in. Especially that 2 "non regulars" tip the exact amount that he still needed to hit the goal. But the reason why this is so typical to me, is that Phil, unprovoked, made it a point to let everyone know the tips weren't from regulars.

It's kind of like when a liar says "I am being honest". Phil now says he didn't contact anyone, which makes me believe all the more he did. It's the Barbra Streissand effect in all it's glory. I cannot prove anything, nor is that my intent, like I said, this is pure speculation.

But there is no denying this is weird as fuck, and I am more inclined to believe that Phil can and does contact his whales directly to tell them to step up.

He's being sustained by a handful of people. I would love to know the exact percentages, but if I had to guess, I'd say that less than a dozen people account for well over half of his annual income.

That's what makes it even crazier.

Phil makes more money on way less viewers than channels larger than him do. He averages 200-300 viewers on average. And sure the troll tips add up, but by no means are they the majority of his income. If you take the 100k he clears anually, that means on an average of 250 viewers pay 400 dollars per year. But it gets even worse, because the majority of his income, comes from a select few whales. There are people who are spending thousands of dollars (PlanetJeff for example) on Phil anually.

I am not going to try to figure out why people keep giving Phil such large amounts of money while there are literally so many other and better ways to spend money. But it does highlight a huge potential danger, if one or two whales where to fall away, it would cause a huge gap in Phil's income, and he has no back-up plan to fill in that gap
