I never tipped for pickup before, but not sure if I'm expected to now with Covid-19...

Yeah but I only do 15%. Can't afford a high tip on top of delivery charges

Nope, carry out and curb side means you DON'T tip anyone as you came there to get it.

I always tip because the waitresses that work at the restaurant I go to are constantly having to walk back and forth between cars, sometimes alot at one time, and they have to do this during a pandemic. So I always tip them

I always tipped like $3 for carry out just because, now I'm doing about 40% because I appreciate the people who are taking a high risk and working.

Do you expect tips or look down on people who do not tip, or are you pleasantly surprised when people tip?

Nah, I get what youre saying, but I still tip because I want to help them out. Those employees arent making much, and every bit counts now. I am biased though because I used to work in a restaurant.

I don't expect tips, I'm happy to get even a small one even a dollar. Some people have tipped me in 20s and I still remember who they are now.

People keep telling me I should tip for carryout. I actually WALK to a place to pick it up. if I go to all that trouble I a sure not tipping them. And why should people get tipped for doing their job, anyway? Why does someone handing me a box deserve a tip, but cashiers in supermarkets or anyone else who hands you something doesn't?

No, because I don't know who the hell you're tipping when you get takeout.

When you eat in a restaurant, you're tipping the server. When you order delivery, you're tipping the driver.

When I go get the food... neither of those roles exist. It's just paying extra money.

Either goes directly to the one youre interacting with or it gets split between the register employees and/or the expo(gets your food together on the line.)

Not sure if you just mean restaurants, but in the case of grocery stores, curbside pickup means

-Somebody has to run through the store and grab all the items, bag them, then bring them to the storage place in the curbside area, separating the cold items, frozen items, warm items, and then everything else until you arrive bc otherwise it'll all become room temperature and go bad.
-When you arrive, somebody fetches those bags from their respective areas and brings them to your car and loads them, verifies you are the right person, and makes any additional changes you want. If the weather is bad they still have to come to your car, there was one time I ran out in heavy rain/wind, thunder/lightning, hail, and pandemic, and the customer needed me to run back and change an item. I had to drive home after to change into dry clothes. Also keep in mind that the wage for this job is too low even with the temporary hazard pay.

I don't expect tips but I don't feel bad at all about taking them.

delivery is different. pizza Hut is the main one I am talking about that I don't tip for carryout. Also, they must not really even expect it because sometimes they didn't even give me a receipt or ask to sign.
