Not sure if there's interest on CE, but no harm in trying, right?

Anyway, I haven't watched any Bollywood films in years. My mother put them on and watched them with us when we were kids, which was a while ago

Since yesterday, I've been listening to some of my favourite film songs again and just reliving the memories lol

One song I particularly liked, even though I don't think I've watched the film: Tha Kar Ke from Gol Maal:

Does this count?

I've not seen the film, although I'd like to, but I've listened to this song many times. Both this version and a cover one of my favourite bands did (Sun City Girls)

It does! Definitely before my time though

This is a good song and her dancing is insane for a 40-year-old: https://youtu.be/MP4F0ZcW_G0

Fuck, TC... you just made me remember...

Senior year of my music class, we watched Bollywood films occasionally. And it was actually kinda cool. There was one in particular I really liked but I'll be damned if I can remember the name of it, or even anything about it.

I don't really watch Bollywood movies, but I watched Gully Boy a year or two ago, and I really enjoyed it.

it's about a poor college student, with a gift for poetry, who ends up pursuing a career in hip hop.

this scene is where he and his partner make a music video from his neighborhood:

I've seen a few Bollywood films and was very impressed. Some are just as good, if not better than Hollywood films.

I grew up watching 90s Bollywood movies. I think most Bollywood movies are god awful but the songs are wonderful. I also know tons of songs from the 50s onwards because my parents would play old collections of songs too. For some reason, my brain is especially good at remembering all these songs even though I barely understand Hindi (I'm ethnically Nepali). I still have a playlist of like 100 of my favorite songs and it took me a while to track them all down. I don't know too many songs from like 2005 era onwards but I try to check them out here and there and get exposed to new songs through my cousins and uncles /aunts. I credit A R Rahman as one of the reasons I love music, his work is amazing.
