It's a completely different driving experience from anything I've seen. You can change a number of different things about how the car drives from the touch screen.
Then there are software updates that improve the car and/or add new features. The car is better today than it was when I bought it.
Also, the self driving is really great. I don't get driver's fatigue on long trips any more. Since I moved to San Antonio, I was taking a lot of trips back to Austin to visit friends and visit my mom. Normally I'd be tired of driving by the time I got home. Now if I'm taking a long trip like that, I just let the car drive itself the whole way. I'd say my favorite thing to mess around with is the summon feature. I like seeing people's reactions in parking lots when it slowly drives by them and they notice there's no one in the car. There was one incident back in April where some dude called the cops on me for using the feature in a Buccee's parking lot. The cop said he couldn't do anything about it since it's a private parking lot and it wasn't the store employees who called. Not sure why someone would dial 911 for that, but oh well. --- ... if the ford electic mustang actually looked like a mustang i might have been tempted to buy electric. But it looks like an ugly station wagon designed to make people who like mustangs angry and people who like electrics angry.
I'm sure i will at some point go electric, it's the inevitable future. But, my next car will be a good ol gas guzzling v8 so i can at least enjoy that before they're banned. --- If you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all. How do you have so much money I had been saving for the car for a couple years to make it a comfortable purchase. I was planning to buy it about a year and a half from now, but I moved from Austin to San Antonio because I got a new job. Slightly higher pay Lower living expenses That meant I could go ahead and make the purchase in January and still have a good amount of spare money at the end of the month to build my savings back up and cover unplanned expenses. I put about $17k down and Tesla gave me $9500 for my old car. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I would honestly consider a Model 3, even if it's not totally perfect because the company has been proactive in improving it as they go. As a daily practical investment, it's looking promising apart from I guess serious repairs.
Electric has always been a fundamentally potent avenue to improve on ways ICE will always struggle with. Battery and programming technology have just needed time for us to get there, and we're still not totally there yet, but it has become viable for casual applications now. The enthusiast base, seems to have a lot of tools, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're one of them. I really don't care to indulge in car snobbery, because I can admit where my car and brand are heavily faulted. I have been conscious the idea of aligning as a Tesla owner, but not to the extent of scoffing at the thought of being a VW or Audi owner. --- Competing every night, both ends, shoot inside/outside, fast break, transition, Monta Ellis have it all ... Teslas are the worlds greatest personal commuter car at the moment.
Glad to see more established companies making actually sporty electrics now to pick up where telsa couldn't. --- Ryzen 3800x @ 4.3, 32 gig @ 4000, 1070ti, 970pro, Asus Strix x570-E FC: SW-8431-3263-1243 ... Copied to Clipboard!

My Challenger can reach about 250 miles before hitting quarter tank, and that's even with my driving. I'd wager normal people could easily see 275-280 before hitting a quarter tank. --- 4/15/1951 - 3/18/2014 ... Copied to Clipboard!

v8's will be around for a while, it's the v12's and v10's that are endangered.

As a daily practical investment, it's looking promising apart from I guess serious repairs. I never cared about cars my whole life. Growing up, I was always a tech enthusiast. My favorite TV shows: Batman (Batmobile, bat plane, etc.) TMNT (Donatello) Transformers Power Rangers My first car was my mom's 1993 Camry. I was one of those "As long as my car is decent and it gets me from point A to point B, I'm fine" people. To me, a car was just a big piece of machinery and I had little to no interest in learning the ins and outs of it. I traded the 1993 Camry in for a 2009 Camry. I traded that 2009 Camry for a 2013 Camry Hybrid. I was thinking about upgrading to an Avalon, but I test drove it and it exactly the same as the Camry I had. Then I test drove a Tesla Model S and was immediately hooked. I put a plan together to save up and get one for myself. You know, I wonder if I could down the road swap out my V8 for an electric power plant, once all the dinosaur squeezings dry up.
I know it's just a Challenger, but I like my car, dammit. God knows it'd have the room to fit everything. The curb weight on my registration is measured in displacement rather than pounds. --- 4/15/1951 - 3/18/2014 ... Copied to Clipboard!

There is so much technology in the car and it makes me wonder why other car manufacturers are lagging so far behind. For electric in general, it's the oil industry, infrastructure, and just general R&D risks. I can believe every other manufacturer is letting Tesla be the test dummy or the one to pull the weight to get it started. Stuff like interior infotainment, that might've been more because of manufacturers wanting to reserve that for higher end offerings. But we're here now. Like the most basic of Civics and Corolla's are coming with Bluetooth and backup cameras. On that note, I'm ashamed to say I'm not all that confident backing or going parallel into a space without a camera anymore. --- Competing every night, both ends, shoot inside/outside, fast break, transition, Monta Ellis have it all ... The weight distribution may suffer the most, if the packaging and space options exist in the first place. Really the only proper battery placement is under the cabin but the Challenge among any ICE car never was engineered to reserve that space. I want to keep my car forever too. It might be a premium just to keep by law. --- Competing every night, both ends, shoot inside/outside, fast break, transition, Monta Ellis have it all ... Copied to Clipboard!
