There is actually nothing in the Bible against homosexuality aside from the completely outdated Leviticus which also has proscriptions against a lot of other things modern Christians enjoy. It's purely political. Jesus was even stated to "lie down with [another] man"

I dont actually believe that. I think modern right-wingers hate gay people and like to pretend God does too because it makes them feel righteous in their hatred.

How convenient it must be to not actually ask people what they think, but to just make up viewpoints and attribute it to them. Intelligent people call this a "straw man."

There are plenty of gay Republicans, and there are Christian churches that marry gays. But don't let reality fly in the face of your false narrative.

I dont see much of a difference between gay Republicans and straight ones. Both vote against their own self interests if they're not rich. While the hatred or disdain towards gays is a lot more open, it's super easy to read between the lines and see the disdain for every other non-rich group from Republican politicians and their rich owners.

People with jobs voting to create more jobs are voting against their own self interests?

I actually know a guy thats a member of this organization:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Log_Cabin_Republicans

Log Cabin Republicans was founded in 1977 in California as a rallying point for Republicans opposed to the Briggs Initiative, which attempted to ban homosexuals from teaching in public schools. In addition to sanctioning the termination of openly gay and lesbian teachers, the proposed legislation authorized the firing of those teachers that supported homosexuality.[4]

While mounting his imminent presidential campaign, Ronald Reagan publicly expressed his opposition to the discriminatory policy. Reagan's condemnation of the billepitomized in a letter sent to a pro-Briggs group, excerpts of which were re-printed in the San Francisco Chronicle in 1978played an influential role in the eventual defeat of the Briggs Initiative.[5]

In the midst of this victory, gay conservatives in California created the Log Cabin Republicans. The group initially proposed to name themselves Lincoln Club, but found that name was already in use by the Lincoln Club of Orange County, another California Republican organization, so the name Log Cabin Republicans was chosen as an alternative title. This designation calls attention to the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln. The Log Cabin Republicans suggest that Lincoln founded the Republican Party on the philosophies of liberty and equality. These principles, Log Cabin argues, are consistent with their platform of an inclusive Republican Party.[6]

Gay people who are Christian are just guilty of cherry-picking what they want out of their religion, just like every other religious person

At the risk of sounding like an angsty edgelord, I don't understand anyone who believes in a religion

Because believing in or appreciating anything requires distancing oneself from those who would use it to do wrong. You're a socialist? So was Stalin. You believe in national patriotism? So did Hitler. You find women attractive? So did Ted Bundy.

In the case of the Bible, it's the classic archive argument. Some people say that the Brothers Grimm were antisemitic because three of the stories in their collection had anti-Jewish themes. Others argue that the Brothers Grimm presented preexisting stories as part of an archived collection and that the three offending stories happened to be part of that archive.

The warning against homosexuality only appears in Leviticus. If you take it as a record of law in ancient Israel, then hating the Bible means your stance is one of shooting the messenger. If you believe that God hand-wrote everything in the Bible and to question it is damnation, then your view of God is categorically tyrannical whether or not God is heterosexist.

I'm gay and a registered Democrat, though I have some conservative leanings. I'm very socially liberal, for instance, but I think Republicans are much better with money and the actual running of a government. I'm also an Arizonan and see firsthand every day the need for immigration reform, whether it be a wall or something else, but heaven forbid you say so out loud because then you're "racist." It sucks that political candidates on both sides tend to be so extreme, because people like me who tend to view things a little more objectively and are willing to meet in the middle, are forced to be grouped under one umbrella or the other and sacrifice some of our values.

your political leanings can be described as fuck you, but not me. You are basically a republican but end being a democrat because your own party hates you. You agree with the other party except when it comes to hating YOU (I want the leopard to eat faces, not just mine)

Your stance can be turned around like this:

I am quite the liberal. I believe that democrats are more compassionate and propose taking better care of our less well off citizens. They have also had less corruption scandals and fuck ups, such as the two Bushs wars, the gigantic mishandling of 9/11 and COVID and our skyrocketing debt (Clinton left a surplus, Bush left us with debt, trump skyrocketed it BEFORE even COVID).

i do have some conservative tendencies. I believe in family and family values, and I believe in the biblical and wholesome definition of family. Society was built upon the idea of a family unit with a father and a mother figure for kids, plus its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. Heaven forbid I said what I just said or youre a homophobe. It sucks that political candidates on both sides tend to be so extreme...

before you start raging I am actually for gay marriage and I think the republicans stance towards gays is pitiful. I just showed you how ridiculous your stance is.

also if you think the likes of stephen Miller or Tom cotton will be cool with gay people because theyre aryan brothers youre dead wrong, people like that only accept straight WASP people (even though some of them may not fit that definition).

to this I want to add that your iMmIgRaTiON rEfOrM (a thinly veiled way for you of saying you think there are too much brown people) point is gibberish: illegal immigration is already illegal. Making LEGAL immigration illegal like theyre doing now (they just banned green cards, for example) has nothing to do with the issues you see at the border.

exactly. They pretend theyre better at handling money, but its the republican presidents who have caused us to have so much debt. Clinton left a surplus and Obama didnt add much to it considering he had to implement a stimulus package to recover the economy that Bush left him
