A government dictated what people could and could not do, took their tax money without representation then tried to take their guns. People held onto their guns, had a revolution. Kicked out the corrupt government out using their guns they refused to give up. Declared independance. Then you had a group of people who feared government creating a government So the first thing they did was say it will always be legal to critcize the government. The second thing they did was say the government cannot come and take your guns away. Now centuries later, guns are everywhere, part of US culture. There are more guns than people and guns are literally tied into US History. In Australia or Japan or the UK or Canada when they started taking guns away, the popualtion overwhelmingly went "ok" In the US the government tried, there would literally be civil war.
