MATCH 1

Dark Man Stage is a really neat song! It helps that the original Mega Man 5 song is one that I actually really enjoy since NES Mega Man songs can be a bit lackluster to me at times. It has a good melody and parts where the extra instruments really adds to the song like 1:24-1:49. 0:04-0:14 is also pretty cool. Last year, this had the unfortunate result of having one of Galaxy of Friendship or Dead Neon Hell City getting matched up against it, so it's nice that this year, I'm able to vote for it in at least one round.

Night Gale's an interesting song. I think I enjoy it more than the usual Gravity Rush songs. A lot of nice, playful chords here and I enjoy the saxophone parts as well as the guitar that shows up earlier on in the song. Not quite as good as Dark Man Stage, but still a pretty decent song.

MATCH 2

Infinite Dungeon 2 is a super cool song! World-esque instrumentation with a good, triumphant sound. Melodically, it's great all around. Particularly at 0:00-0:08 and 1:15-1:48 which are my favorite parts of the song. The accordion during the latter part sounds like it was borrowed straight from an Atelier song lol. Great example of the kind of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon music I really enjoy.

While I'm not as head over heels for Chronicleseven as I am for my Sakura no Uta nomination from last year, if I had to pick a pet nomination for this year, I'd say it's Chronicleseven. I love all the upbeat melodies in this song. I guess it's kind of a simple thing that I love about this song altogether which is that you have great sounding chords, melodies, and backing melodies layered over each other very well and it creates this wonderfully rich sound. The best example of this is in the chorus. This song also weaves together a lot of cool parts together from that soft piano intro to vocal and nonvocal parts that not only keep the upbeat vibes of this song together but also keeps the song fresh. I also love the key change at 3:39. What's funny is that I first listened to this song a while back, forgot about it, then heard it again after some time, at which point I thought "hey wait a minute, I love this song! Why did I forget about it?" As good as the other 7th Dragon III songs were last year, Chronicleseven definitely takes the spot of my favorite song from this game. More "lem loves anime music" going on as usual, but it shows how when it's done well, a song like this can really shoot up to being a favorite of mine.

Easy match, but this is too strong for round 1 :(

MATCH 3

Speaking of strong matches, go figure that a bracket made up of prior retirees would lead to such a ridiculously strong match in round 2. I think I gave Preserved Valkyria a 9.2/10 in RtVGM so this is pretty much a 9.2 vs. 9.5+ match, just to illustrate how much of a "me" match this is. Once again, Flying Clouds, Drifting Haze is the clear winner, albeit in a match with two super good songs.
