It's an interesting scifi-ish novella that's actually pretty good, and still gets all the core Randian points across. Maybe read Fountainhead if you want a "modern" realistic novel. Atlas Shrugged is just long and boring and ranty, and the only reason to ever have a copy is to impress dittohead who have never read it anyway. I read the damn thing in the mid 90s (because Anthem was pretty good), and can never bring myself to get much past the train bits ever again.
