I always pick Fire-type starters, so those by default. Out of those, The Charmander and Chimchar lines have been my favorites.

1: Charmandsr, squirtle, bulbasaur. All pretty equal though.
2: totodile, cyndaquil, chikorita, with totodile being one of my favorites period. 3: mudkip, torchic, treeko 4: turtwig, chimchar, piplup. This is my favorite set of starters, and turtwig is one of my favorite pokemon lines, not just starters. 5: I hate all of these pretty equally, but oshawott, tepig, snivy 6: froakie, fennekin, chespin 7: rowlet, litten, popplio 8:grookey, scorbunny, sobble. Another set I'm not fond of. Favorites are turtwig, chimchar, totodile, charmander, rowlet, and squirtle. --- We all ate the biscuits, Fighter. We can all see through time. [ER] ...
