Not liking it that much. 35 hours in and I'm fairly confident in saying this is the end game so I might as well finish the game. However, I can't say I enjoyed most of my time with it. It's not a bad game by any means but it's not nearly as good as the fans hyped it up to be. If this is the best the Tales of series has to offer, I'm not sure I want to try out the rest of the games.

The characters are good. I actually like the chemistry of the cast a lot. Not really feeling Raven being call an old man for his age nor do I need to hear Rita be called the "genius mage" for the millionth time but those are just nitpicks. The characters are solid for a JRPG.

It's mainly the story that has been uninteresting the whole game. I didn't really mind the first plot arc but it feels like the game becomes more generic as it continues. We went from find the aque blastia to save the lower quarter to saving the world? Huh? Why couldn't it just stay small scale and personal? It's not a problem limited to Vesperia to be fair.

Also, I looked at a guide out of curiosity and holy hell did I miss a lot. Why would the devs make some really neat things so easily missable? Time sensitive quests are awful. What would compel a player to go back to this early game town and sleep at the inn? Absolutely nothing. What were the devs thinking?

The combat is good. I like it now in the end game since I have more options and can experiment. Early game to mid game, it felt like a slog more than anything.

The game is solid. I just don't see how it's so good according to others. I probably wouldn't replay this to be honest.
