I absolute loved NYC when I was there years ago. The culture, restaurants, and overall vibe were all awesome. There are some nice aspects, like hot chicken and certain stores (McKays is legendary for a reason), but they're not worth the BS. Someone mentioned San Francisco as a place that vastly exceeded their expectations. On a positive note, I had the same experience with Kansas City.
