Just watched a video of a guy doing arbitrary things for 7 minutes in the opening segment and it glitched to Ganondorg dying.

Probably the dumbest thing I've seen this year.

I assume it's because speedruns are challenging and a new way to get enjoyment from a game you've already played to death. I'm not interested in them personally, but those speedrun history videos are interesting.

Some people play all games they come across, like me. Others get few games and play them countless times, either for speed or to see if they can win with 3 hearts, without the sword, or something.

Blah blah blah 5 paragraphs explaining the differences between speed run categories such as any%, any% no glitches, 100%, 100% no source requirement (this is a specific oot category), blah blah blah

No point in explaining because no one seems to care that if they want a speed run for no glitch 100% gameplay they can find it just as easily as a true any%. Nope! People just want an excuse to complain about something.

Why are Clue speedruns a thing?

Just watched a video of a guy clicking super rapidly for .7 seconds in the opening segment and it glitched to Mrs Peacorg in jail.

Probably the dumbest thing I've seen this year.

The 3 heart challenge is legit though.

Its probably worth noting that any% speedruns of OoT have only looked like this for the last month or two since ACE was figured out. If this is what they had always been, then I would understand your confusion.

Im not a big fan of the glitch thing myself. Im not a fan of speed runs. But Id rather see them play the game instead of glitching to the end if I ever did watch a speed run. The glitch things seems boring and stuff. Actually playing would be cool to watch for some, I would think...

Yup, I shall admit I used to be grumpy too, until I learned I wanted "no major glitches". ... except TAS, I want my TAS with every possible glitch.

Ha ha yeah, my yt recommended once gave me a speed run thing and I was checking out a few of them and was interested to see how the hell the oot video length was so short and after seeing the video it was pretty anti climactic. I understand abuse some glitches like in the original Pokmon games there was a glitch to make the text appear instantly vs it displaying character by character but when you start up the game and appear at the boss its going a bit too far.

You guys know that there are different categories for speedruns, right?

Speed runs are fun to watch when its 100% legit. Glitches are boring. I like watching a guy beat a dungeon in 10 mins and see how he does it than glitch through a wall and fight a boss.

I've always loved finding, studying and exploiting glitches in games.

I don't watch Let's Plays, but I think I would actually be more interested in glitch runs than typical runs. If I want to see the game normal, I'll just play it. Let me see something new and exciting.

I think a better answer would be 'I want to see the absurd glitches'. It's one thing to reach the end credits via exploiting a ton of whacky physics glitches and careful timing and practice to seem like some sort of weird badass. It's another when the 'glitch' is nothing more than the careful use of a broken dagger to suddenly trigger the end credits.

Both are fascinating in their own ways.
