You're right but we need to be mindful that containment is still important to stop it becoming worse.

Ebola for example killed over 11,000 people. It didn't stop on it's own. It took a concerted effort to get it under control. Yes the media are making the most of the situation but it still requires work to stop it getting out of hand.

Problem is people infected with ebola didnt just fly in or out of the country in millions so the problem was contained in one area. But China has millions of people flying everywhere in almost every country in and out. Also symptoms dont really appear till after 2 weeks and this problem started mid december... airports didnt start shutting down till last week.

No. That isn't how that works. Recovering from anything flu can require 2-3 weeks for a full clinical recovery. It can remain in the system still providing some minor symptoms up to 3 months. There are far more infected than those that died. The fact that this early in there is already almost as many cured as dead shows that the symptoms may not last for a long time. This means over the next few weeks it is highly likely that the number of recovered vs dead will skyrocket as people begin to hit the medium length of recovery.

From what I understand this virus takes a long time to die from. You dont even have any symptoms for the first 7-10 days you have been infected

So if coronavirus started this week...
we will see how many people who currently have the virus and dont know it have infected others by.... February 5th.
If 90,000 people have it now, maybe 200,000 by February 5th.
If 4 people in the US had it yesterday, maybe 8 by February 5th

Theoretically sure if it doesn't slow down and even then it will claim as many lives give or take equal to the flu. Which is horrible but it doesn't make it a plague.

My understanding is that WHO does think it's very serious but because it is mostly contained to China so far it hasn't been given I higher threat for the world.

Then it's already too late. Imagine those people who arrived from wuhan early January in the usa.

I also read that bodies were being cremated after the host dies. Feels like the virus could mutate into making the dead like zombies.
