yeah, ive got a general disdain for most anime/anime-esque shows but avatar is one of the few exceptions

You've probably heard it a hundred times by now but it doesn't get particularly good until like 10-15 episodes in. The introduction is really kiddy and watered down for the most part

Even story aside; the art, the style, the setting/time period, tone, the action sequences, etc. It just doesn't do it for me. I've even been shown clips of moments that were suppose to be these big highlights and were just "Eh," about it all.

Do slow tai-chi or bouncing mock-cardio bending throughout. They will ask you to leave and you'll get a nice workout before they do.

I personally enjoyed it, but I found Katara and Aang pretty obnoxious (I don't like the 'nevr kill' ethic or the continual agonizing over whether being magic is cool/good), so I get why you wouldn't. The final season had an insulting amount of filler.

Favorite episode was the play in the Fire Nation with the overwrought caricatures. "It just fills me with so much hope! *wails*"

Edit: I couldn't get into Korra. I really wanted to, but after the end of the first season, I just noped out and couldn't anymore. Didn't like the massive jump in time (16th-ish century? to 1920s, vroom!) and they had too much romance as a main plot driver, as well as doing the strawman of a season 1 villain wrong by never addressing his totally legitimate concerns or the awesomeness of his family's powers.
